Weekly Update Matti Bye, September Girls, Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks, subzar, Winkie, and more...

Good afternoon and a happy new year to all our customers. We hope you all had a wonderful christmas and that 2014 brings you all manner of joy and happiness.

We are now back in the saddle after a punishing couple of weeks drinking and eating things. Thanks to our brave soldiers who turned up in the bleak bit between christmas and new year, we have hopefully dealt with the thick of your yuletide orders and we are now catching up with what’s left over. Thank you for your patience whilst things have been a bit slower than normal.

As you may imagine it has been a quiet week for new releases but believe it are not some have slipped through. For example, the Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks album is a charming piece of lopsided guitar pop which must surely appeal to fans of all things Pavement. New York duo Winkie have amassed a veritable smorgasbord of industrial shoegaze tunes that reference everything from Jesus and Mary Chain to Curve to Cocteau Twins. We have the new September Girls album in for which a sleeping Brian will provide a review next week as he loves the goddamn thing so much.

There has been lots and lots of soothing ambient music this week, perfect for soothing that post hangover sore bonce. Woodworkings make everything ok with some post-rocky neo classical pluckings. Subzar go deeper into classical territory with a gorgeous string laden weeper of a mini album whilst Swedish composer Matti Bye gently twinkles a doom-laden piano in a great big room to tremendous effect. We also have a very limited edition of the Richard Moult and David Colohan which comes with pretty much everything in the world bar their kitchen sink in the packaging.

Up there on t’hill Ant bigs up the new Bee Mask 12” (feat. Surgeon and Abdulla Rashim mixes) and the Kosmic Kommando’s (AKA Mike Dred) new double LP which is finally in.

And if you are not quite satisfied with this weeks slim pickings visit our pre-order page which has details of some of the exciting releases we are expecting to appear in the next few weeks.

Thats it from us for this week. Have a great weekend and we’ll be back with a vengeance on monday.
