The Kinks
Face To Face

Marking the beginning of a purple patch for The Kinks, their fourth studio album Face To Face is nothing short of a classic. Reissued on 140g vinyl, all the Kinksian qualities you’d expect are at play here from quintessential Englishness to the satirical lyrics and thematic unity. The first concept album? Out on vinyl LP from Sanctuary.

McKay
Into You

‘Tis the season for re-releases here at Norman Records. Into You comes to you from 1978, with swell guitar licks, dreamy riffs and, despite the fact its been aging for over 30 years, a really fresh feel. Although McKay never intended to go big - they only sold the 300 pressings locally and gave them to friends - this record was picked up eventually, and not without reason. It’s tight. Or rad. Far out. You know.

Santa Y Su Gente
Urgente

Another overdue rerelease to please the fans. First released during the rule of Pinochet, this sweet piece of progressive/Latin funk never got the attention it deserved. Now you can listen to Santa Y Su Gente in the warmth of your own home, whilst basking in the peace of your own democratically elected government.

Fang
Landshark

A sloppy broth of lethargy from Fang. Landshark is getting reissued over three decades after it's initial release, and it’s still depressingly relevant. Going anywhere they feel like, Fang spurt out their own brand of smoked-out hardcore-surf-punk-stoner jams. It's the true sound of raw gnar. Out on vinyl LP from Boner.

The Kinks
The Kink Kontroversy

A classic British album from The Kinks discography gets a reissue complete with its original UK tracklisting. Named in reference to their notorious reputation at the time, The Kink Kontroversy begins to show shades of the future potential of Davies’ songwriting. Reissued on 140g vinyl by Sanctuary.

The Kinks
Kinda Kinks

An important album in The Kinks oeuvre, their second effort offers the first real showing of Davies’ songwriting talents. Following the covers-heavy debut, Kinda Kinks features ten pop originals that hint at the longing melodies that would later become a Ray Davies trademark. Out on 140g vinyl LP from Sanctuary.

The Kinks
Kinks

The self titled debut album from The Kinks gets the reissue treatment on 140g vinyl by Sanctuary. Consisting largely of R&B covers, The Kinks is largely credited with foretelling the sound of heavy rock from Led Zeppelin to Black Sabbath thanks to ‘You Really Got Me’. Out on vinyl LP from Sanctuary.

Songs: Ohia
Didn't It Rain

Alt-country songwriter Jason Molina is best known for his crowning work with Songs: Ohia, 'Magnolia Electric Co.', a cosmic alt-country record inspired by the ferocity of Steve Albini, its producer. 'Didn't It Rain', though, is a different kind of masterpiece, reflecting Molina's more commonly utilised slow-burning folk rock, always focused around quiet strumming and the vocal exchanges of him and singing partner Jennie Benford. Named after a classic folk gospel standard, 'Didn't It Rain' is proof of a plaintive songwriter in thrall of music's old lexicon.

Diplo
F10RIDA

Dance dad Diplo has been doing his own thing for a decade now and 'F10RIDA' nods at the time lapse sheepishly, offering a bunch of new tracks that celebrate the long, strange trip he's had in being a solo artist. It's a tribute to Florida, his old stomping ground, where a lot of his musical magic began.

Conrad Schnitzler
Grun

Electronica has a friend in Conrad Schnitzler. The krautrock pioneer has carved out a bit of history for himself being one of the key players in ambient electronic crew Tangerine Dream, and he also played in Kluster with members of the quite bizarre Harmonia. Occasionally, he hid away from the scene to tinker with soe of his own tunes, and 'Grun' is one such example. Originally surfacing in 1981 and containing songs from years before, it's now available through Bureau B. Comprised of two tracks, 'Grun' still offers a plethora of experiments -- you can play the second track at either 33 or 45 RPM. Because, you know, krautrock.

Ya Ho Wa 13
Savage Sons of Ya Ho Wa

Ya Ho Wa 13 are quintessentially psychedelic. Recorded by members of The Source Family, a far out commune/cult of the type you always imagine when you think of when you picture early 70s cults, only without the enigmatic frontman and spiritual leader Father Yod. Heavily influenced by Neil Young, this is a more conventional record than their weirder LPs. On vinyl.

Howard Eynon
So What If I'm Standing In Apricot Jam

Explaining a record called 'So What If I'm Standing In Apricot Jam' is a totally futile exercise, and you probably wouldn't believe me if I told you Howard Enyon's brand of acid folk is often sinister and eerie, as if a twee/psych icon had travelled into the future and taken on the neo-folk pagans of today. Really, though, he recalls acts such as Syd Barret, Nick Drake in his 'Five Leaves Left' era and Al Stewart back when he was a bona fide folkie. Lots of acoustic guitars, spontaneously exuberant choruses and frenetic drumming abound.

Keith Hudson
Rasta Communication

Keith Hudson's records are unique in the reggae canon, mainly due to the strength of his personality and his unflinching examination of darker themes- hence his reputation as the 'dark prince of raggae'. While this has made him a slightly marginal figure in a genre mostly celebrated for its relaxed, sunny vibes- Hudson's albums have always been especially revered as some of the deepest and most uncompromising to be found in Jamaican roots music- gaining new audience appreciation with reissues of key records on the ubercool Basic Replay imprint. This reissiue of his 1978 classic 'Rasta Communication' features some of his most memorable songs.

Green
Green

Finally one of the quintessential '80s pop/rock albums has been reissued! Underappreciated since its release, this self-titled album is sure to surprise you for being so well-conserved. Still fresh as a spring-time leaf, Green’s debut has not aged a bit. Treat yourself to a tasty music history lesson! Only 500 copies available!

Probe 10
There Is a Universe

A pie of fun and bewilderment from Probe 10. There Is a Universe is a trip down into the archives of proggy nonsense, harking back to times most definitely past. It's a mixture of jazz-rock-fusion, funked out horns and inter-planetary synths. It sounds like The Crusaders and Yes doing the score for a sci-fi action thriller - whatever that is. Out on vinyl LP from Lion Productions.
