Jäh Division
Dub Will Tear Us Apart... Again (Deluxe Edition)

Jah Division! Just as the name would lead you to expect, this project is a dub take on the works of Joy Division. Pretty funny. But wait! At the controls is a bunch of Brooklyn experimental miscreants, including members of the great Oneida! Dub Will Tear Us Apart… Again (Deluxe Edition) reissues this 2004 12” with five additional tracks. Silly, but also actually extremely good. Reissued by Ernest Jenning Record Co.

The Awakening
Hear, Sense and Feel

Not to be confused with the South African goth-rock act of the same name, The Awakening were the only group recorded by the famed Black Jazz label. Recorded in 1972, Hear, Sense And Feel was the band’s debut album and now fetches hundreds of dollars where it can be found. It now gets a re-issue on the Real Gone Music imprint.

Antonio Carlos Jobim
Wave

Dating back to the time when Antonio Carlos Jobim was being dubbed the ‘Gershwin of Brazil’ and when international stars were flocking to work with him, Wave was originally released in 1967 off the back of a recording session with none other than Frank Sinatra. It’s always been regarded as a minor masterpiece of the country’s fertile music history, and is now re-issued on vinyl by Elemental.

Teenage Fanclub
Songs From Northern Britain

Songs From Northern Britain was the 6th album by Teenage Fanclub, originally released in 1997. It was their most polished album but still found the band in fine melodic form. Ain’t That Enough and Your Love Is A Place Where I Come From are worth the admission price alone. Nick Hornby is a fan of the album and included the latter track in his book 31 Songs. Initial pressings come with a bonus 7”.

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Dig!!! Lazarus Dig!!!

'Dig!!! Lazarus Dig!!!' is Nick Cave's attempt at making a bona fide garage rock record, one that's rough around the edges to match the snarl in the singer's voice and the sewage in his songwriting. It's a coarser, heavier affair than normal, and also signals the end of founder Mick Harvey's tenure with the band.

Fela Kuti & Afrika 70
No Agreement

There's at least one of our customers who should be happy about all these Fela Kuti re-issues... the guy who asked me all about how he could get hold of rare Fela Kuti stuff about six months ago. Whether or not this is you then you should be excited to learn that Kuti's No Agreement is now available as a single vinyl having previously only part of the box set series. It's one of Kuti's best and most overlooked albums of its era.

Coil
Musick To Play In The Dark

Dais answer the collective prayers of Coil fiends with a necessary reissue of their 1999 masterpiece and first instalment in their classic 'Musick To Play In The Dark' diptych. The album features some of Sleazy and Jhon Balance's most iconic tracks in the moon musick of 'Are You Shivering?', 'Broccoli' and ''The Dreamer Is Still Asleep'. 'Red Birds Will Fly Out Of The East And Destroy Paris In A Night' could be regarded as Coil's kosmiche masterwork - a one way ticket to the pleasure zone. Now reissued for the first time in two decades, with remastered and restored audio and artwork. The tracks are now spread across three sides of vinyl (in uncut form) with an etching on Side-D.

The Doors

A fiftieth anniversary re-issue for The Doors’ penultimate studio album, Morrison Hotel. Released in 1970, it saw the band return to their roots after the mixed reaction that greeted the soulful, experimental The Soft Parade. The Sun is Often Out is the debut album by Sheffield band Longpigs and was originally released in 1996. The band were fronted by Crispin Hunt and featured Richard Hawley on guitar. The Sun is Often Out contains the singles She Said and On and On. If you love your Britpop-era stuff and are too young to remember this you’d be advised to get involved. Brian Eno
Ambient 1: Music For Airports

Groundbreaking stuff here from Brian Eno. Ambient 1: Music For Airports was released in 1978 and marks the first time when the word ‘ambient’ was used in connection with this kind of music. Eno made the album by layering tape loops. His intention was to make a soundscape that would cut through anxieties and tension in an airport. Half-speed master. Cut at 45 rpm on heavyweight vinyl.

Pulp
His 'n' Hers (25th Anniversary Edition)

As a celebration of Pulp's salt-of-the-earth DIY pop, the 1994 released hit record 'His 'n' Hers' is re-issued with extra audio quality. As the band's fourth album, and one which will always be remembered as their breakthrough, sexual encounters, social class and voyeurism are all covered with a heavy dose of Jarvis Cocker's dry wit.

Paul Simon
Graceland

Paul Simon's career was a bit in the doldrums before he collaborated with/stole ideas off (delete where appropriate) African musicians on what would be come his biggest selling record. Melting Pot

A long overdue repress of the greatest hits album covering the earlier career of the Madchester survivors who weren't from Manchester. This has pretty much all the essential tracks from the years 1990 to 1997 when the Charlatans were signed to Beggars Banquet. Including indie disco staples, 'The Only One I Know' and 'Just When Your Thinking Things Over', a remix from the Chemical Brothers of 'Patrol' and lesser known gems like 'Can't Get Out Of Bed'. Snail Mail
Habit

Matador are the ones who stump up for a re-press of Snail Mail’s 2016 debut EP Habit. Anyone who’s heard the thing (or subsequent Snail Mail releases) can already attest to its charm. For newcomers - this is thoughtful, friendly punk of the Frankie Cosmos school. This new pressing of Habit features Snail Mail’s cover of ‘The 2nd Most Beautiful Girl In The World’ by Courtney Love (the K Records band, not the Hole singer).

The Lovely Eggs
If You Were Fruit (Deluxe Version)

If You Were Fruit was their debut album from 2009 which now comes in a deluxe edition featuring bonus tracks from their first EP Have You Ever Heard The Lovely Eggs? Howard Shore
The Fly (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)

Critically-acclaimed The Fly will be remembered for its eyebrow-raising special effects and transformative Jeff Goldblum performance, but the importance of Howard Shore's eerie soundtrack cannot be underestimated. We all need something to relax us in these terrifying times and in the absence of readily available heroin why not turn to this archival release by Craig Kupka. Tommy Mcgee
I'm A Stranger

Tommy McGee shot out of the same stable as Al Green and, despite ostensibly having just as much talent, had a career that didn’t go in quite the same direction. The highlight of his career was his 1976 album I’m A Stranger, which was produced by Palmer James. It’s soulful, smooth and funky.

The Creation
How Does It Feel To Feel?

Always one of the most undervalued British bands of the Sixties - their guitarist used a bow on his guitar years before Jimmy Page thought of it - The Creation are overdue a re-appraisal. This re-issue of 1982 compilation How Does It Feel To Feel?, named after their 1968 hit and gathering together all of the material they recorded with Who producer Shel Talmy, is a good starting point.

Type O Negative
World Coming Down

World Coming Down is the 5th album from Brooklyn goth-metal band Type O Negative, originally released in 1999. The band were led by, the now sadly departed, Pete Steele.  Despite their goth status, they don’t mind a joke, with their CD skipping intro being converted to a record jumping intro for this vinyl release. When you first play your pristine copy sent to you, beautifully packaged, care of Norman Records, don’t worry, it’s not a duff copy, it’s just those wags at Type O Negative HQ having a laugh. Although part of the None More Negative box set released in 2011 his is the first time the album has been available on standalone vinyl.

The Acid Test is a recorded document of the mid-60s acid test scene is San Francisco. Ken Kesey and his partner in pranks Ken Babbs took acid in a recording studio and rolled tape. Robert Johnson
King Of The Delta Blues Singers

Robert Johnson’s Faustian pact is probably the defining myth of rock ‘n’ roll. This compilation of his work is worth hearing for that reason alone. If you go in for that sort of thing, it was also ranked the 27th greatest album of all-time by Rolling Stone in 2003. Either way, the songs here all have an eerie power that transcends time.

Primitive Man
Scorn

What do you think this sounds like then? If you guessed at a black doom sludge with feedback-drenched guitars, terrifying gurgling vocals and a general feeling of post-apocalyptic nightmare then you've pretty much hit the nail on the head. This Denver Colarado band pull no punches with this churning and visceral sound. Anyone with a faint heart look away now.

Tears For Fears
The Seeds Of Love

The Seeds of Love was the third album by Tears For Fears. It was originally released in 1989. It saw the duo of Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith and friends go for it production-wise with the epic Beatles-esque single Sowing The Seeds of Love. They also mined soul and jazz influences. Another single, Woman In Chains featured the then unknown Oleta Adams, who went on to have a successful solo career. Also includes the singles Advice for the Young at Heart and Badman’s song. Reissued in a variety of formats.

The Sound
Shock of Daylight

Influential London post punk group The Sound released their third album, All Fall Down, in 1982. It had an noncommercial sound and therefore did really set the cash registers ringing. They followed this in 1984 with an EP, Shock of Daylight, which had more commercial appeal - kind in the Teardrop Explodes ballpark. Within are some of The Sound’s best songs such as Counting The Days and Golden Soldiers.

The Fall
Hex Enduction Hour

Arguably the single greatest album in The Fall’s 41 year history, 1982’s Hex Enduction Hour documents Mark E. Smith at the peak of his powers, fronting the most powerful lineup of the band. Steve Hanley’s bass is generally to the fore, flanked by guitarists Craig Scanlon and Marc Riley, and crucially featuring the twin drums of Paul Hanley and Karl Burns. At this point MES had a knack for combining kitchen-sink realism with the uncanny and supernatural, refracted through a Burroughs-esque prism. Recorded in a draughty cinema in Hitchin and a cave in Reykjavík, the album is bombastic, abstract, abrasive, hilarious, belligerent and utterly exhilarating.

Placebo
Placebo

Apparently, if you listen to Placebo you don’t actually feel the effects of their music, be they visceral or cerebral, you just think you do. Or perhaps if you turn it up loud enough, you will. Their eponymous debut album originally landed in 1996 and featured some androgynous alt. rock bangers such as Nancy Boy, Come Home and Teenage Angst. It is now reissued on vinyl for you delectation and reappraisal.

Bob Mould
The Last Dog and Pony Show

The Last Dog and Pony Show was the fourth album by the legendary musician Bob Mould. It was originally released in 1998. Whilst it was still very much a rock album, it was the first album by the former Husker Du and Sugar man to feature electronic elements. He would go on to experiment further, and more prominently, on subsequent releases. Reissue on Demon.

Genghis Tron
Board Up The House

A re-issue on vinyl for the second - and, to date, most recent - studio album from NY-based experimental metal trio Genghis Tron. Keith Hudson
Nuh Skin Up

First-time repress of this pair of in-demand 1979 roots anthems from the undisputed Dark Prince of reggae - Mister Keith Hudson. 'Nuh Skin Up' and flipside'Felt We Felt The Strain' would both make sound systems quake - especially that of the mighty Jah Shaka who would regularly have them on heavy rotation. Fire!

Bob Dylan
Bringing It All Back Home

Colombia are reissuing Legacy Editions of a whole brace of classic Bob Dylan albums, not that they seemed at risk of falling out of print. 1965’s Bringing It All Back Home is neatly split between a ‘rock’ electric side and a ‘folk’ acoustic side, and includes essentials like ‘Subterranean Homesick Blues’ and ‘Mr Tambourine Man’.

Brainiac
Hissing Prigs In Static Couture

With their career tragically cut short due to the death of vocalist/guitarist Tim Taylor in 1997, Brainiac’s third record (and first for seminal indie imprint Touch & Go) Hissing Prigs In Static Couture ended up being their valedictorian effort. Highly acclaimed for its intelligent, noisy take on contemporary indie, this ‘blue swirl’ vinyl re-issue is the perfect memento for this sadly unexplored dead-end in American alternative rock.

Belladonna

It’s another Finders Keepers reissue so you just know it’s gonna be good. And it is. We have here the first-ever reissue of a rarity; Belladonna by Mashahiko Sato which was the soundtrack to a Japanese film on witchcraft. The music is psychedelic, cascading, crashing jazz which sounds like Sun Ra throwing a tantrum. Heavy, percussive stuff and wonderfully reissued in collaboration with Sato himself.

In The Kingdom Of Dub

Absolutely classic dub plate from Scientist. Originally released in 1981 the album is an innovative slice of music history with an array of guests including the legendary Sly & Robbie. Back in 2005 we moved freely to the rockabilly sounds of the Raveonettes second album Pretty in Black. Death
Leprosy

Death are a heavy metal band from Florida who are credited, along with Possessed and Necrophagia, with creating the genre of death metal. Soundwise, they plough a similar furrow to Metallica and Slayer but take it up a notch adding a raw edge. Leprosy is the band’s second album, originally released in 1988. It is now remastered by Alan Douches and reissued through Relapse.

Death
The Sound Of Perseverance

Death’s reign as kings of death metal ended in 1998 with the release of The Sound of Perseverance, their seventh and final album. It was a great way to bow out - a highly regarded album that received full marks from pretty much every critic that reviewed it. If you like your death metal and don’t own this, what have you been doing?! If you like death metal and do own this, how about getting this reissue on fancy coloured vinyl?

Inter Arma
Paradise Gallows

The title Paradise Gallows is a very good one, suggesting that you are doomed, to a brutal old-fashioned death, but also that you long for execution. Perfect tone-setting for the bleak sounds of Inter Arma. The crushing extreme metal climaxes of this album are so inevitable that the band are in no hurry to get to them, circling quietly before releasing the furies. On Relapse.

Neil Young & Crazy Horse
Rust Never Sleeps

Classic Album Alert! Famously Canadian singer-songwriter guy -- that has a great voice and is actually very good -- Neil Young sees an album that he did in '79 with raucous band Crazy Horse reissued on pristine 180g vinyl. For the most part recorded live, with a few studio overdubs, it's an energetic and dynamically enlivening record. Young coined the phrase Rust Never Sleeps to avoid complacency and try a more positive and progressive approach to live performance. On Warner Bros.

Talk Talk
The Party’s Over

It still beggars belief that this record was made by the same people who made 'Laughing Stock'.  This is Talk Talk in full throes of their early 'new romantic' sound. PJ Harvey
4-Track Demos

4 Track Demos was a 1993 album by PJ Harvey which pretty much does what it says on the tin. It is home recordings of eight tracks that had already been released on Rid of Me alongside six additional songs. It was Steve Albini himself who persuaded Harvey to release them as a standalone record thinking that they showed a different side of her work than what was shown on the released LP.

'Marcus Garvey' is an utterly legendary mid 70s roots reggae album produced by Lawrence Lindo. The Beatles
Abbey Road – 50th Anniversary Edition

Absolutely everything about The Beatles’ final album Abbey Road screams ‘iconic’ - the much-parodied artwork, the second half’s famous song suite, the top class contributions from all of the Fab Four (yes, even Ringo’s ‘Octopus’s Garden’...). In 2019, it gets the 50th anniversary re-mastering treatment. With the new stereo mix handled by Giles Martin at the famous itself, this re-issue comes in: standard CD; double CD; single, double or triple vinyl; or a lavish 4xCD box-set with hardcover book and Blu-Ray. Various versions include outtakes and demos.

Saint Etienne
Sound Of Water

Still standing as Saint Etienne’s most unknowable and understated album, Sound Of Water gets a re-issue on vinyl. Originally released in 2000 and spearheaded by a nine-minute single in ‘How We Used To Live’, it was a stripped-back, ambient record with traces of trip-hop in the mix.

Current 93
Horsey

The album uses a variety of instruments to create an eerie, unsettling atmosphere aided and abetted by Nurse With Wound's Steven Stapleton. Soft Cell
This Last Night In Sodom

Originally released in 1984 as their third studio album, This Last Night In Sodom marked the messy end of Soft Cell’s first incarnation, with Marc Almond and David Ball announcing their split around a month before it came out. Featuring two minor hits in ‘Soul Inside’ and ‘Down In The Subway’, it now gets a vinyl re-issue.

Soft Cell
The Art Of Falling Apart

A re-issue on double vinyl for The Art of Falling Apart, the sophomore studio album from Soft Cell released in 1983. While it couldn’t quite match the runaway success of debut Non-Stop Erotic Dancing, it nevertheless won critical acclaim. The second vinyl includes the 10-minute track ‘Martin’, issued as a 12” single accompanying initial copies of the album, as well as the famous ‘Hendrix Medley’ including ‘Hey Joe’, ‘Purple Haze’ and ‘Voodoo Chile’.

Soft Cell
Non Stop Ecstatic Dancing

As a great man once said, "Ruddy hell, it's Soft Cell". The legendary synthpop duo comprising Dave Ball and Marc Almond had a string of superb LPs including the mini album 'Non Stop Ecstatic Dancing'. Unbelievably, the whole record was written and recorded in one week (about as long as some groups take to clear their throat). Primitive machine music, time constraints, and Almond's weirdly out-of-key singing combine in a magical alchemy.

Frank Zappa
Halloween 81

If you like Frank Zappa (and thousands do I've heard) then there are a couple of editions of his Halloween '81 live set floating about. For the really adventurous you could go for the 6CD box set which has 78 (count 'em) unreleased live tracks. For those of us with a more sensitive disposition there's a single CD 'highlights' edition. Your choice.

Kings Of Leon
Youth & Young Manhood

"The worst debut album of the last 50 years". That was our (ok my) review of Kings of Leon debut back in 2006. But just as Blueshammer have a bigger audience than Skip James, these Nashville brothers brand of punky Southern boogie did something to catch the ear of listeners everywhere and are now one of the biggest bands on the planet. Whoda' thunk?

The Fall
Dragnet

The second album from The Fall gets the reissue treatment here. Dragnet, recorded in 1979, established the routine to which Mark E. Smith would indefinitely adhere; new music and new members. In contrast to Live At The Witch Trials, Dragnet features decidedly muddy production, setting a precedent for future albums. Out on CD and vinyl LP from Castle Music and Sanctuary.

The Revolving Paint Dream
Flowers In The Sky

A minor hit on the indie charts when originally released back in 1984, ‘Flowers In The Sky’ was the debut single from future Primal Scream guitarist Andrew Innes when he was in the short-lived The Revolving Paint Dream. Released on Creation Records - whose founder Alan McGee was actually in the band too - it’s now given a second lease of life via this 7” single re-issue as part of the Optic Sevens series, and includes a postcard and poster.

Meat Whiplash
Don't Slip Up

We're really delving into indie pop obscurity with Meat Whiplash. They released just one single (but it was on Creation famously) before splitting and regrouping as the Motorcycle Boy. This is that only single re-pressed and re-issued on coloured vinyl by the archivists who are Optic Nerve. Comes with nice postcard and poster.

Endless Boogie
Vol. I + II

Vol 1 & 2 (aka Black and White) by New York band Endless Boogie are the earliest, and much sought after, recordings by the band. They were quickly put together from archived recorded when they were unexpectedly asked to play the Slint-curated All Tomorrow’s Parties festival. They are now back in print and readily available for any fans of the band who were unaware of their earliest days. On No Quarter.

B12
Electro-Soma

Warp Records luminaries B12 announce the first reissue of their 1993 album Electro-Soma all remastered in a gatefold sleeve with an essay on B12, photos and more souvenirs. Alongside Aphex Twin, The Black Dog, and Autechre, B12 were pioneers of IDM and techno and Electro-Soma was the first compilation of their early recordings.

Veruca Salt
IV

A re-issue on white vinyl of IV, the fourth studio album from American alternative rock veterans Veruca Salt. Originally released in 2006, it came after a period of personnel upheaval, featuring an entirely new rhythm section and being the last album to include guitarist Stephen Fitzpatrick, but won plaudits for its hard-hitting dynamics.

The Futureheads
The Futureheads

Skittering Sunderland four piece the Futureheads have had something of an Indian summer this year with their comeback album Powers so what better time to revisit their self-titled debut. It blasted through fifteen tracks of agit-pop and post-punk and was notable for a high octane version of Kate Bush's Hounds of Love which reached a heady number eight in the hit parade. Rhino have now re-pressed the album onto lush double wax.

Status Quo
Pictuersque Matchstickable Messages From The Status Quo

Just look at that title and try not to think of the early work of Spinal Tap. Quo were obviously a massive influence on Tap  - just look at how their names scan - both bands had a largely forgotten early psychedelic period before their harder rock years. Pictuersque Matchstickable Messages From The Status Quo. As well as magnificent super hit Pictures of Matchstick Men the album is notable for the soundalike opener Black Veils Of Melancholy and several other slabs of flowery psych goodness.

Goldfrapp
Supernature

Supernature was the third album from London electronic music duo Goldfrapp. It carried on from 2003's Black Cherry in introducing glam rock and pulsating electronics into their previously folk-based sound palette. It was led by the single Ooh La La which went straight to number 4 in the hit parade introducing the band to an even wider audience. This new edition comes on transparent green vinyl in gatefold sleeve and with an exclusive art print of the original artwork.

The Doors
L.A. Woman

LA Woman was the sixth and final studio album The Doors. Jim Morrison died shortly after its release in 1971. The band split with long-time producer Paul A. Rothchild leaving engineer Bruce Botnick to co-produce with the band. Along with the jazzy blues rock of the title track it features Love Her Madly, Been Down So Long and Riders On The Storm.

Soft Cell
Cruelty Without Beauty

Released 18 years after Marc Almond and Dave Ball originally disintegrated their creative partnership, 2002’s Cruelty Without Beauty marked the reunion of Soft Cell. As they prepare for their second reunification and a fifth studio album set for release in 2021, Big Frock re-issues the album as a double-CD package, with unreleased and rare tracks, and a heavyweight pink vinyl.
