The Van Pelt
Stealing From Our Favorite Thieves

As heroes of NYC's indie-rock scene in the 90's, The Van Pelt only thrived in the world's concrete jungle for four years; but their lasting impression still burns away. Stealing From Our Favorite Thieves was their thwack of a debut, and here it is repressed from original recording for the first time.

Vic Chesnutt
Silver Lake

U.S-born songwriter Vic Chesnutt's legacy is still very much alive and kicking. Silver Lake is one of the most impressive of his whopping 17-album-large repertoire. Initially released in 2003, the full-length perfectly encapsulates a witty vision of America in Chesnutt's pleasant indie-folk.

Arthur Verocai
Encore

Arthur Verocai’s debut album is an obscure hidden classic of funky Brazilian samba-soul music, released to not-enough interest in 1972 but rediscovered in 2004 by Harmonic 313. Consequently, Verocai returned in 2007 with Encore, an album of new compositions recorded with an ensemble who understood his vision. Now reissued by Far Out Recordings.

Culture
Two Sevens Clash (40th Anniversary Edition)

Culture’s Two Sevens Clash is a 1977 reggae classic with a place both in history and in the hearts of many who discovered the genre that year, This reissue expands the album by gathering up all the dubs, 12” disco remixes and DJ versions that sprung from it, so you can have the full Two Sevens Clash experience here. Fortieth anniversary double CD / triple LP reissues on VP.

Retta Young
Young and Restless

Young and Restless is a jewel of an album that has never previously been reissued since its initial 1976 release! That’s shocking, given the super-high quality of Retta Young’s performances here, which combine all the best parts of both soul and disco into a supremely groovy mid-70’s mix. Hooray for this joyous remastered reissue! On Expansion Records.

Shango Dance Band

The original release of this premium slice of afrobeat was so limited and hard to get hold of that it might as well not have existed unless you’ve got real collector-depth pockets. So rejoice at this reissue of Shango Dance Band’s eponymous album, properly available at last! It rolls and grooves and smiles and throbs like only the finest Nigerian afrobeat can. Reissue from Comb & Razor.

The Black Ryder
Buy The Ticket, Take The Ride

The Black Ryder’s debut album Buy The Ticket, Take The Ride was released the first time around in 2009. These two Australians managed to swirl up a whole ocean of psych-shoegaze, rich with all the noisy-melodic flavours that we ‘gaze fans love so dearly. Reissued by Fuzz Club in an edition of 800 double LPs (the D-side is an etching).

Howard Shore
A History Of Violence (Original Score)

Howard Shore has played his part in bringing a huge number of big ticket movies to the screen: almost 100 films feature a Shore score. For A History Of Violence, Howard matches the uneasy mystery of the story with creeping and subtle orchestral arrangements that shimmer with mistrust. Vinyl release on Silva Screen.

Heart Of The Congos is one of the all-time classics, and surely one of the most highly regarded roots reggae records around. This right here is a reissue of a reissue, putting the fullest and best version of the album back into circulation. Over three CDs or three LPs, the rare Lee Perry original mix is bolstered with edits, dubs and remixed versions, including one previously unreleased! Reissued by VP.

Angelo Badalamenti
Twin Peaks

Can’t go wrong with this deeply classic soundtrack work from Angelo Badalamenti can you? The towering synth melodies and luscious instrumentation of that main theme can cut directly to the heart of anyone who’s watched David Lynch’s Twin Peaks, and this vinyl reissue arrives just in time for the broadcast of the new series. Flying Saucer Attack
Mirror

'Mirror' was the final Flying Saucer Attack record before their long hiatus that was finally broken by 2015's 'Instrumentals'. It showcases a much more gentle and reflective side to FSA's oeuvre with wispy, folky compositions showcasing a band that seem to be drifting further into space than ever before.

Stefano Marcucci
Tempo Di Demoni, Papi, Angioli, Incensi E Cilici

Crazy stuff right here from a squad of Italy’s ever-productive 70’s library music makers. Tempo Di Demoni, Papi, Angioli, Incensi E Cilici is a mini-rock opera with theatrical psychedelic pop touches and madly demonic themes. This particular work of Stefano Marucci has been badly neglected by posterity, but is now receiving a proper commercial release at last! 10” record on Finders Keepers.

The Membranes
Everyone's Going Triple Bad Acid, Yeah!: The Complete Recordings 1980-1993

After a 20 odd year hiatus, Blackpool based post-punkers The Membranes reunited in 2012 and have another brand new album coming out this year. Here we have a huge collection (i.e. everything from their discography in one box of CDs) that covers the initial outings of the group. Everything they recorded from 1980-1993, almost 100 songs from EPs, and singles that have never been on CD before. FFO Big Black, Sonic Youth.

Al Massrieen
Modern Music

Al Massrieen are a beautiful hybrid of disco, funk, and jazz-pop, active in Egypt in the 70’s but only released within the country and on cassette. The Habibi Funk here continue with their admirable signal-boosting mission by giving Al Massrieen’s Modern Music an international vinyl release! What a serious groovy treat this is.

Chad Valley
Equatorial Ultravox Addendum

Chad Valley prepares dance floor friendly electronica with keening vocals and punch the air synth motifs and here we get a vinyl re-issue of his earlier EP now with two tracks added and a remix which appeared on the zombie flick 'Warm Bodies'.  His live set is described as 'the best in the business' by the confident press release and he has supported Erasure and Foals to help back up this claim.

Severed Heads
Please Clifford, Don't Live In The Past

Please Clifford, Don’t Live In The Past is a retrospective collection of Severed Heads, a bunch of Australian post-punk, synth-pop, tape-experimental heads whose work is getting some reissue attention from the Dark Entries label. Lots of exciting odds and ends here, with live, demo and unreleased tracks along with band members’ solo recordings. Double LP on Dark Entries.

MONO
Under The Pipal Tree

This is the debut album by MONO, first released fifteen years ago on John Zorn’s Tzadik label. Turns out these guys were epic right from the start: much of Under The Pipal Tree has a grand sweep and a searing intensity to it. Under The Pipal Tree has never been released on vinyl before, so jump onto this new double LP pressing on Temporary Residence, featuring all-new artwork.

Daniela Casa
Arte Moderna

Daniela Casa’s Arte Moderna is a particularly fascinating and unusual set of sounds, even by the high standards set by 1970s Italian library music in general. A number of these pieces are proper cutting-edge electroacoustics, with an astonishing attention to detail and a craftsperson’s approach to sound: fantastic stuff! Never commercially released before, this golden material is now available, via Cacophonic.

Vic Chesnutt
West of Rome

Vic Chesnutt’s West Of Rome is the second studio album by the Athens, Georgia songwriter, recorded with Michael Stipe at the production helm in 1992. Not only does this reissue add seven bonus tracks of four-track demos, live tracks and outtakes, it also puts West Of Rome onto vinyl for the first time ever! Double LP reissue on New West.

The Stooges
Heavy Liquid (The Album)

Phwoar, rare material from The Stooges! Heavy Liquid is a document of what went on in the studio around the time the band were recording their mighty Raw Power, and it consists of some truly ferocious proto-punk action, including a version of ‘Cock In My Pocket’. The Heavy Liquid double LP is released by Easy Action.

Iggy Pop
Lust For Life

Iggy’s second solo album came hot on the heels of the similarly Bowie-produced, but stylistically very different The Idiot (both 1977). With the Sales brothers on bass and drums and Carlos Alomar and Ricky Gardiner on guitars, this is much more of a rock album, but one that doesn’t at all resemble the Stooges. The title track and The Passenger are now almost omnipresent, but the record is full of delights - sleazy (Sixteen), daft (Success), or somewhere between comical and emotionally devastating (Turn Blue).

ESG
Step Off

You may think that the prime ESG recordings were pumped out in the early '80s but it really wasn't the case. The sisters Scroggins had a slow despatch rate averaging roughly an album a decade. Step Off was their third album released a full 20 years after their formation but retained the minimal soul and funk sound that so many other artists (particularly hip-hop artists) found so inspirational.
