Chavez
Gone Glimmering (25th Anniversary Edition)

Alternative rock band Chavez are led by guitarist and vocalist Matt Sweeney, known for his work with Iggy Pop, Bonnie 'Prince' Billy and Zwan. 'Gone Glimmering' was their debut album and was released in 1995. It was produced by John Agnello, Bryce Goggin and Bob Weston, who between them have made records with Dinosaur Jr., Pavement and Sebadoh - so that’s the kinda territory you’re getting into here.

Quinn Harris
Statements

The career of sax player Quinn Harris was shaped by listening to the likes of John Coltrane and Charlie Parker, a stint in an army band, attending Berklee College of Music and turning down an offer to play in Janis Joplin’s backing band. His classic funk/soul/jazz album 'Statements' was originally released in 1975 and mixes original tunes with songs made famous by the likes of Al Green, Roberta Flack and Minnie Riperton.

'I Am The Center: Private Issue New Age In America, 1950-1990' is the compilation LP that seemed to start the new-age revival and the endless search for rare recordings is repressed on a couple of different vinyl versions. The album is a must-have anthology of music recorded from 1950 to 1990, ranging from rare private-press recordings through to more well-known practitioners of the genre such as Laraaji.

Nadja
Tsukihoshihi

'Tsukihoshihi' by Nadja is a jewel lost from the crown of ‘80s Japanese pop-funk. It features arrangements by producer Yasuaki Shimizu, known for his 1982 saxophone poptronica album 'Kakashi', and famed Jamaican rhythm section Sly & Robbie. It also features songwriting contributions from keyboard player, producer and arranger Akira Inoue and Brigitte Fontaine collaborator Areski Belkacem.

The Cigarettes
You Were So Young

The Cigarettes were a John Peel-endorsed band out of the cultural hotbed that is Lincoln who peddled their wares in the late-'70s. It's classic, of-its-era punk-pop with a Lydon-esque sneer but also with the sort of Buzzcocks-like pop sensibility that suggests that they should have had more success. 'You Were So Young' is a twenty-two-track collection which puts together everything The Cigarettes recorded in their slim two-year lifespan.

Kuniyuki
Flying Music

Classic long-form dub-techno from Japanese artist Kuniyuki reissued on vinyl courtesy of Mule Musiq. There are three mixes to 'Flying Music' - the lead track incorporates the classic atmospheric pads with housey beats and some forlorn trumpet, while the 'Deep Poetry' mix over on the flip is available for the first time on vinyl. A rare chance to get this one on wax.

The Raconteurs
Consolers Of The Lonely

In 2008 The Raconteurs' legendary second album was released. 'Consolers of the Lonely' is a diverse exploration of modern rock music, including horn sections, murder ballads, and punky vocals, all tied together by the guitar playing of that bloke from the White Stripes. Released on Third Man Records, this is a must-have for fans of blues, rock 'n' roll, and guitars.

Fuzzy Duck
Fuzzy Duck

Seemingly all bands from the ‘60s and ‘70s featured someone called Mick. Fuzzy Duck were no exception. The London prog rock band were fronted by Mick Hawksworth and released one self-titled album in 1971. Fans of Spencer Davis Group, Vanilla Fudge, Soft Machine, Caravan, early Deep Purple and early Grand Funk Railroad will dig the melodic songs presented in a sea of Hammond organ, driving bass and searing lead guitar.

Caiphus Semenya
Streams Today… Rivers Tomorrow

Caiphus Semenya is a South African musician who fled apartheid in order to live in exile on the west coast of America. His second solo album Streams Today… Rivers Tomorrow carried on where his classic debut Listen to the Wind left off  - blending boogie, soul and jazz with more traditional sounds from his South African musical birth. Indeed Matswale was a massive hit in his homeland. Re-issue on Be With.

Tom Waits
Nighthawks At The Diner

Waits’ third album is arguably the pinnacle of his early beatnik barfly persona. Taking a different approach to his more mannered previous albums, the 1975 LP was recorded live in a pseudo small club setup. It’s jazzy and deceptively loose and boozy, though Tom knows exactly what he’s doing, whether delivering jokey banter or vividly narrative songs like Spare Parts and Putnam County.

Peter Ulrich
Pathways and Dawns

Peter Ulrich is probably best known as the drummer in Dead Can Dance and for collaborating with This Mortal Coil, although he has a solo career which has seen him release five albums to date. Pathways and Dawns was the first of those and was originally released in 1999. It is made up from sessions recorded in 1990 and 1996-97. Hypnotic rhythms and poetic lyrics are augmented by guitars, arrangements and production from Dead Can Dance bandmate Brendan Perry.

Pink Floyd
Delicate Sound of Thunder (2019 Remix) [Live]

'Delicate Sound of Thunder' by Pink Floyd was recorded in New York in 1988. It was the prog-pop behemoths' first completely live album and is notable for being taped during their first tour without founding bass player Roger Waters. The album melds the old and the new with classics from their back catalogue and songs from their 1987 album 'A Momentary Lapse of Reason' - which, incidentally, is a phrase that comes into my mind whenever I find myself listening to Pink Floyd's music.

XTC
Drums and Wires

XTC are reissuing many of their classic albums at the moment. 'Drums & Wire' was the famed post-punkers' third LP and it was originally released in 1979. This reissue has been mastered by Jason Mitchell with Andy Partridge watching over to make sure he did it right.

The Clash
London Calling

London Calling was the third album by The Clash and was originally released in 1979. It is widely regarded as the band’s greatest moment and one of the best albums to ever be committed to tape. It comprises a range of styles from punk to reggae and ska to rockabilly and dealt with many issues of the day such as unemployment and racial conflict. Essential.

SWANS
White Light from the Mouth of Infinity

Swans’ seventh studio album, White Light from the Mouth of Infinity, is considered to mark the start of the group’s second stage. This essential release has been remastered for double vinyl LP and also contains a poster and download code.

Mark E. Smith
The Post Nearly Man

Originally released in the summer of 1998, The Post Nearly Man was the first solo album from Mark E. Smith, and even by The Fall’s standards, it was experimental. Recorded in part at Pete Waterman’s studio (!), it was an inscrutable mixture of sound collages, samples of Fall tunes and Smith’s unique spoken-word artistry. Now, Demon Records re-issues this genuine curate’s egg of an album on clear 140g vinyl.

Susan Christie
Paint A Lady

For those of you who like your psychedelic folk tinged with the sandy dirt of country music, then this lost classic is for you. Susan Christie, who once had a minor hit with a song called I Love Onions,  recorded Paint A Lady sometime around 1970, but her label at the time decided in wasn’t commercial enough. Fortunately, Andy Votel got his hands on one of three test pressings and released it on his Finders Keepers label.

Saint Etienne
Good Humor

1998 saw Saint Etienne release their fourth album Good Humor, which was recorded in Sweden and marks a movement away from the band’s dancier origins. As well as more of a balance between acoustic instruments and synths, the album has quite a loungey soft vibe, almost like a flipside to what Stereolab were doing at a similar time. Reissued on Heavenly.

The Twilight Sad
No One Can Ever Know

No One Can Ever Know was the third full length album by Scottish miseries The Twilight Sad. It introduced a more keyboard-led sound without at all disturbing the atmospheric and emotional post-punk sound they'd been peddling until this point. It was produced by the sadly departed Andrew Weatherall who, if anything, made their sound even more claustrophobic. All their albums are worth a listen and this is no exception.

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Tender Prey

If you were only ever to own one Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds album, 1988’s ‘Tender Prey’ might be the one to get. It has ‘The Mercy Seat’ on it, the defining statement of his early career and a peerless piece of modern songcraft; songs like ‘Deanna’ and ‘City Of Refuge’ are perhaps the finest examples of the deranged Elvis-preacher shtick Cave was on in the late 80s; with hindsight we can now see ‘Watching Alice’ as the first flush of the more abstract and impressionist style of songwriting Cave et al have been serving up in recent years. The record also kick-started a decade-long run in which Cave made classic album after classic album. Essential copage.

Rodriguez
Cold Fact

We all know the story by now. American singer-songwriter Rodriguez releases his debut LP in 1970 to little fanfare and modest sales. Meanwhile somehow the record gets picked up by music lovers in South Africa and the record goes platinum. The story is covered in life affirming detail in the Searching for the Sugarman film but if you don't have it already, you'll need this re-issue of his classic first album - full of warm sunshine vibes like a Bob Dylan on prozac.

Massive Attack
Protection

Protection was the second album by Bristol’s trip-hop overlords Massive Attack. The album was released in 1994. Vocalist Shara Nelson was replaced by Everything But The Girl’s Tracey Thorn. Tricky also made his last appearance with the the group going on to make his Maxinquaye album. It features the single Karmacoma.

Caiphus Semenya
Listen To The Wind

Be With are really finding some lost gems of late. The latest is this 1982 album by Caiphus Semenya - a South African in self imposed exile in Southern California. He was already well known as a collaborator with the likes of Lou Rawls and Quincy Jones when he finally got round to making a solo LP. The album blends funk, soul, jazz and boogie with his South African roots for a modern soul album which blended '80s production with more traditional sounds and compositions.

Junie
Suzie Super Groupie

Be With present a re-issue of this lost 1970s caper featuring Walter Morrison (also of Ohio Players) playing soulful funk, jazz and boogie. It's full of infectious grooves, funky horns and liquid bass lines. Comparable to Funkadelic and Sly and the Family Stone, the album has been a favourite of artists as well known as Prince and Solange. Time to take a listen.

Cocteau Twins
Victorialand

‘Lazy Calm’. ‘Fluffy Tufts’. ‘Little Spacey’. Yep, we’re in Cocteau Twins territory alright - specifically the territory of ‘Victorialand’, the dream-pop pioneers’ fourth LP which originally emerged in 1986. ‘Victorialand’ was made while Simon Raymonde was busy mucking about with This Mortal Coil, and the result is an album which retreats even further into the ether than previous Cocteau full-lengths. Some might even call it a milestone in ambient pop...

Mick Trouble
Here’s The Mick Trouble LP

Mick Trouble - a nearly man of post punk pop. A contemporary of Swell Maps and Television Personalities, if everything stayed on track he would have enjoyed the kind of success and acclaim given to Elvis Costello. That, unfortunately, is not not what happened. He disappeared before he was supposed to record a session for John Peel thus ending a promising career. The original tape for Here’s The Mick Trouble LP - lost since 1980 - was found in a cookie jar in Trouble’s basement. Emotional Response have pressed it on to wax at last.

Pale Saints
The Comforts Of Madness

Towards the end of the ‘80s Pale Saints, from Leeds, were part of a new movement in British indie known as shoegaze. Bands such as Ride, Slowdive and 4AD labelmates, Lush joined them in their quest, and would ultimately become better known. Perhaps Pale Saints are due a resurgence, like the bands that they broke through with initially have enjoyed of late. Comforts of Madness was their debut, originally released in 1990, and it’s a bit of classic. This expanded reissue includes unreleased demos and a Peel Session from 1989.

The Magic Numbers
The Magic Numbers

The Magic Numbers burst onto the scene in 2005 when we were led to believe that they were the second coming of the Mamas and Papas. They didn't ever quite make legendary status but this harmony-drenched debut almost landed them the Mercury Music Prize and believe it or not they are still making music to this day. Reissue courtesy of the Forever Heavenly series and these copies come with a bonus 7".

White Lies
To Lose My Life (10th Anniversary Deluxe Edition)

We all remember when we were when White Lies released To Lose My Life don't we. Don't we?? Well September 2009 should be indelibly stamped on your brain as the month their debut was unleashed and incredibly went straight to the very top of the UK album chart. Well blow me down with a feather. It managed to score 58 on Metacritic and was described by the Guardian as "promising, if unremarkable" so it's high time we got a tenth anniversary re-issue which thrillingly contains demo and live tracks discovered in bassist Charles Cave's personal cupboard.

Beastie Boys
Hello Nasty

Although only 17 years old, I’m sure we can all agree that Hello Nasty was due for a reissue. Featuring Mixmaster Mike on the turntables, the Beastie Boys prove that they have more skills than yelling and popularizing wide-angle video clips. The album is out on 2x180gr vinyl, and sounds as rich as it ever has. What times we live in!

Loop
Sevens

Loop were one of the most lauded bands of the 1980s - their dissonant trance rock sounds going on to influence scores of musicians and having a heavy hand in the '90s shoegaze and noise rock scene. Sevens takes three of their 7" releases, re-presses and re-cuts them and presents them in a spot varnished slip case.

Various
Nuggets: The Original Artyfacts From The First Psychedelic Era 1965-1968 (40th Anniversary Edition)

Lenny Kaye’s comp of 60s psych and garage singles originally appeared in 1972, and if anything has grown in importance as an overview of a well-defined golden era, when a sense of possibility abounded, and before everything got slick and serious. The 13th Floor Elevators, The Electric Prunes and The Seeds may be familiar names to many, and Count Five’s Psychotic Reaction has become a standard. The Nazz began Todd Rundgren’s career, and The Amboy Dukes foisted Ted Nugent on the world. But the one-offs and also-rans like The Knickerbockers and Mouse are as much fun. Styles range from proto-punk to baroque pop to Beatles pastiche, but it’s all bursting with joyous youthful vigour. Double LP reissue, with 27 tracks.

Jeff Buckley
Grace

Despite a number of archival and live albums, Grace was the only full studio album released by Jeff Buckley. Still, high points of the singer-songwriter's celebrated but tragically short career - 'Last Goodbye', 'Hallelujah', 'Lover, You Should Have Come Over' - were part of the collection, and deservedly so.

Joan La Barbara
Tapesongs

Avant-vocalist Joan La Barbara was virtually in a field of one with what she was doing in 1977 at the time of Tapesongs. As the title (and the awesome cover) suggests, she starts bringing tape manipulations into her pieces for extraordinary extended-technique vocals, for extra wonder. Includes a piece she prepared with John Cage. Remastered LP reissue on Arc Light Editions.

Introduction

The debut album from 1970s Zamrockers WITCH or We Intend To Cause Havoc!, arguably the masters of the Zambian rock movement that has been gathering new attention since Now-Again records have been steadily reissuing some of the genre’s classics. Introduction is just that, a good introduction to the Zamrock sound which blends the psychedelic guitar of Hendrix with the funk groove of James Brown and an African rhythm. Saint Etienne
Finisterre

Finisterre was Saint Etienne's sixth album originally released in 2002. Like a lot of their albums it is wide ranging stylistically with ambient and vocal interludes between the more upbeat electronic pop. It was released alongside a film of the same name by long term collaborator Paul Kelly. Now a British institution, each Saint Etienne album is it's own little pocket symphony of pop.

Saint Etienne
Tales From Turnpike House

Saint Etienne have regularly gone down the concept album route in recent years and an early example of this is Tales From Turnpike House which concerns characters who live in the fictional titular house. It features a guest appearance from none other than '70s heartthrob David Essex and is a disparate album containing torchlight folk musings sitting next to dancefloor bangers.

Among them was this album, one of the most emotionally intense records with one of the most emotionally detached titles. IBM 1401, A User’s Manual pays tribute to the composer’s father using recordings of the titular computer and some seriously luscious and emotive string arrangements. A modern classic.

Built To Spill
Keep It Like A Secret

Ah, gotta love a bit of Built To Spill. This classic album, first released in 1997 saw the band experiment with a bigger, cleaner, and tighter sounds - courtesy of the luxuries of a well-stocked Warners studio no doubt. Anyway, this is the album that put Bult To Spill on the map. A map that should come in handy as they crank up the tour buses again.

Idris Muhammad

For complex yet easy-listen jazz, look no further. Dextrous drummer and Louisiana-born Idris Muhammad's latest work 'Power of Soul' is a gorgeous slice of creativity, tinged with soul and leftfield ideas. A re-issue on vinyl for History Is What’s Happening, the second studio album from Dutch anarcho-punk outfit The Ex. Originally released in 1982, it rattled through 20 tracks concerning topics ranging from the squatter movement to the media’s role in politics in just over half an hour. This new edition comes with the poster and 24-page booklet found in the original release.

The Ex
Disturbing Domestic Peace

Veterans of the global underground for over four decades now, Dutch anarcho-punks The Ex re-issue their debut studio album, Disturbing Domestic Peace, on vinyl. First released in 1980, it sold out of all its pressings in double-quick time. 40 years later, it comes packaged with the original accompaniment live 7” vinyl, 20-page booklet and inserts.

Repulsion
Horrified

Repulsion were the first grindcore group. This isn't the first grind LP, however, as it was released after the group split up, finding success in the UK with Carcass distributing a compilation of Repulsion's. The Flint, Michigan group blended extreme death metal with chaotic and fast-paced punk - it's a sound which inspired the likes of Napalm Death to start making music. 'Horrified' is one of the most famed records in the grind genre and will also appeal to fans of death metal, hardcore punk and thrash.

Mercury Rev
The Secret Migration (Deluxe Edition)

The Secret Migration was the fifth full length album by magical Disney-inspired and long running band Mercury Rev. When it came out it was just a single album but now as if by magic it has extended into a 5CD box set with B Sides, rarities, a live show and a CD of their soundtrack album Hello Blackbird. A bumper edition of an often neglected work.

John Prine
Souvenirs

Following the passing of the much-revered country-folk songwriter John Prine earlier this year, Oh Boy re-releases the late star’s 2000 studio album Souvenirs on vinyl. Housing re-imagined and re-recorded versions of Prine’s earliest work, it was originally intended for release in Germany only, but was extended through demand.

Kevin Rowland
My Beauty

Heavily (and quite harshly) derided upon its release in 1999, reportedly selling fewer than 100 copies, former Dexys Midnight Runners frontman Kevin Rowland essentially torpedoed his solo career with My Beauty, an album of intriguing covers with certain lyrics re-written by Rowland to reflect his battles with substance abuse. It now gets a limited edition re-issue on pink vinyl.

Primitive Man
Scorn

What do you think this sounds like then? If you guessed at a black doom sludge with feedback-drenched guitars, terrifying gurgling vocals and a general feeling of post-apocalyptic nightmare then you've pretty much hit the nail on the head. This Denver Colarado band pull no punches with this churning and visceral sound. Anyone with a faint heart look away now.

Arthur Verocai
Arthur Verocai

Well for once, the press release -- "one of the greatest albums ever made" -- sounds less like the usual over-enthusiastic blurb (hyperbole) and more in keeping with widely-held muso opinion. Arthur Verocai's self-titled solo record was a masterpiece produced, directed and created by the self-taught musician. Original copies of the 1972 classic recorded in Rio de Janeiro now fetch a heck of a lot of £££'s so here is a repress of the 2012 re-master supervised by the maestro Verocai himself. Truly music that transcends genre. Comes packaged in replica gatefold with artwork true to the original. On Mr Bongo records.

Bob Mould
Silver Age

Bob Mould, the Husker Du and Sugar guy, has generally always been a guitar man but prior to the release of his 10th solo album the Silver Age had been dabbling in electronics. For fans of Mould and his big fat guitar sound, the Silver Age was a welcome return to the driving alternative rock he'd been best known for. It now gets a heavyweight silver vinyl re-issue on Demon.

John Coltrane Quartet
Africa / Brass

Africa / Brass was credited to The John Coltrane Quartet but there were more players involved in this 1961 masterpiece. It was Arranged by Eric Dolphy, whose exquisite touch recalled masters such as Duke Ellington, Gil Evans and, in place, Charles Mingus. Backing Coltrane were McCoy Tyner, Jimmy Garrison and Elvin Jones. Freddie Hubbard, Booker Little and Art Davis were among the substantial cast that made this album work.

Velly Joonas
Stopp, Seisku Aeg!

Before becoming a folk musician, Velly Joonas aimed to become a soul singer, and between 1980 and 1983 she recorded these two tracks, now made available on 7” from the Frotee label. A cover of Frida’s (of ABBA) I See Red and Roberta Flack’s Feel Like Makin’ Love. Unique and imaginative takes on these classic tracks.

M. Ward
Duet For Guitars

Duet For Guitars #2 is the fab debut album by M. Ward. The album combines finger picked guitar instrumentals that, in sound, land somewhere between John Fahey and Jim O’Rourke and songs sung in Ward’s now trademark drawl, all recorded with a home recording, lo-fi aesthetic. It was originally released on CD in 1999.

Garnet Mimms
As Long As I Have You / Single Version

Here we have two versions of 'As Long As I Have You' by American R&B singer Garnet Mimms. On Side A is the track's original 1964 album take while Side B is the single version. Unusually, the single of 'As Long As I Have You' is actually the longer of the two and was only ever made as a demo. Very rare stuff here - original pressings of these tracks go for £500 and £400 respectively. Deptford Northern Soul Club Records are re-releasing the tunes on 7" and for a more affordable sum. Both cuts have been remastered from the original tapes.

Bogdan Raczynski
Samurai Math Beats

The critically acclaimed Samurai Math Beats by Polish / American Bogdan Raczynski was originally released in 1999 on Rephlex, the second of three he released that year. The music within met somewhere between the weird experiments of Aphex Twin and Squarepusher and the more chilled sounds of Boards of Canada and Plone. Available on vinyl for the first time since its original release on Disciples.

Nurse With Wound
Merzbild Schwet

Merbild Schwet, originally released in 1980 was the third album by prolific experimenters Nurse With Wound. The album was recorded by Steven Stapleton alone following a fallout with Heman Pathak and John Fothergill during the recording of the previous album To The Quiet Men From A Tiny Girl. Although Fothergill is credited in the sleevenotes, he played no part. The LP is pressed on blue vinyl and includes an insert newly designed by Stapleton.

Lady Gaga
ARTPOP

ARTPOP (must be in caps!) was the third album by Lady Gaga, from way back in 2013 when the world was still relatively normal. She began recording the album whilst recovering from an injury sustained whilst touring her previous album Born This Way. Perhaps she decided to emulate Iggy Pop circa Metallic K.O. Contains the singles Applause, and G.U.Y.

Prince
Sign O' The Times

Great news for all Prince fans who were rightly enthralled with last year’s 1999 box set - Warners’ excavation of The Purple One’s extensive vaults leads to this lavish re-issue of 1987’s masterpiece Sign O’ The Times. CD and LP box sets of various sizes are available, but the biggest one is a 13xLP / 8xCD + 1xDVD set that houses a grand total of 92 audio tracks, many of which have never been heard before. For those who want insights into the abandoned Dream Factory, Crystal Ball and Camille projects, this is the final word on this fantastic era for Prince.

Sun Ra & His Outer Space Arkestra
A Fireside Chat With Lucifer

The ever unpredictable and eclectic Sun Ra perhaps threw his curviest curveball with his 1983 opus A Fireside Chat With Lucifer, recorded with his Outer Space Arkestra. The title track is a 20 minute swear word-laden hip-hop club track which occupies the entirety of side two. Side one is split between three tracks - a nuclear war protest song, an atmospheric ballad and a soulful groove. The original pressing was very limited and therefore very rare. This is the first ever reissue.

Jerry Goldsmith
Chinatown (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)

Roman Polanski’s 1974 Chinatown is now rightfully recognised as a masterwork of noir cinema. But the importance of Jerry Goldsmith’s evocative and atmospheric soundtrack is still not fully appreciated. That all changes with this remastered vinyl LP from Cinemax. ‘Forget it, Jake. It's Chinatown.’

African Head Charge
In Pursuit Of Shashamane Land

In Pursuit Of Shashamane Land was the last album, released in 1993, that African Head Charge released on On-U Sound for a while. The Psychedelic dub ensemble who have included the likes of Jah Wobble in their ranks introduced elements of trance and electronica into the the dub-backed chants of their 1990 classic, Songs Of Praise.

Rain Tree Crow
Rain Tree Crow

Japan didn’t reform but all the members reunited in 1989 and spent a year or two improvising and recording music. The result was a self-titled album by a new band called Rain Tree Crow originally released in 1991. David Sylvian, Mick Karn, Steve Jansen and Richard Barbieri were joined by Be Bop Deluxe guitarist Bill Nelson and session guitarist Phil Palmer. On Universal.

Gone To Earth

Gone to Earth was the second solo album by David Sylvian and followed on from his debut Brilliant Trees. It's a double album full of brooding imagery and who else but Sylvian could have artists as diverse as Robert Fripp, Bill Nelson, John Taylor, Steve Nye appear as guests on the same album. Also just look at his hair.

Don Cherry
Brown Rice

Imagine having a name as cool as Don Cherry! Anyway, Eagle Eye’s dad and Neneh's stepdad wasn’t just cool by name, he played a mean jazz trumpet too. Brown Rice is a 1975 album that fuses jazz, rock, indian, African and Arabic sounds. What’s more it features Charlie Haden on wah-wah bass! Reissue LP on Blue Note.

Rowland S. Howard Vs. The Devastations
Autoluminescent

Roland S. Howard had a renegade talent that's clearly exhibited on 'Autoluminescent', a 7" made with his backing band The Devastations. The song is reminscent of the Jesus and Mary Chain's later work and has a gorgeously lethargic feel, underpinned all the while by Howard's gloriously gloomy vocals. Out on Easy Action.

Dirty Three
UFKUKO

The first ever EP by the mournful power trio of Warren Ellis, Mick Turner and Jim White, aka the majestic Dirty Three. UFKUKO, which appears here on the vinyl format for the first time ever, is an excellent example of the group’s magical sound, which seems to emanate from the very skies and seas themselves. Isobel Campbell
Amorino

Amorino was the third solo album by former Belle & Sebastian chanteuse Isobel Campbell. Like her previous work it is inspired by fluffy things, teddy bears and kittens  - that sort of thing. But also she has a soft spot for French New Wave and European cinema. You know the drill by now. She made this with Bill Wells and it now comes back as a re-issue on Cooking Vinyl.
