Tortoise
TNT

To overlap with the forthcoming new record, Thrill Jockey are getting classic Tortoise albums back out into the world on lovely wax. TNT is Tortoise’s third album, first released in 1998, and is one of the most inventive and engaging post rock records ever made. Double LP in a gatefold sleeve (with that simple simple artwork tipped-on).

Dr. John
Gris Gris (Original MONO Mix)

Gris Gris was the debut album by Dr. John, originally released in 1968. A mystical swamp-thing of a record, Dr. John mixes blues, psychedelia and proto-funk. It is arguably his finest work. Contains his masterpiece I Walk On Gilded Splinters. Reissue of the original mono mix, sourced from the master tapes on Jackpot.

Low
The Exit Papers

First-time vinyl and electronic release for Low's 'imaginary film soundtrack' EP (originally released in 2000, a year before the seminal album 'Things we Lost in the Fire'). Largely instrumental, 'The Exit Papers' was definitely one of Low's more experimental records. The band sent copies of this out to movie executives in the hope of securing soundtrack-writing work. Purchase also includes download code.

Talk Talk
It's My Life

This is the one where things started to change. Producer and multi instrumentalist Tim Friese-Green was drafted in and immediately set about turning the previous 'new romantic image' into something more special. Still the hits kept coming with 'Such a Shame', 'Dum Dum Girl' and the stellar title track beautifully combining mainstream pop and sophisticated production.

Joy Division
Love Will Tear Us Apart

Along with the special 40th anniversary edition of Closer, Rhino Records is re-issuing three of Joy Division’s singles on 12” vinyl, which have never been re-pressed or re-released before. ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’, the band’s epitaph and a UK chart smash, is packaged in heavyweight board with its original artwork.

Coil
A Guide For Beginners - The Voice Of Silver / A Guide For Finishers - A Hair Of Gold

A Guide For Beginners - The Voice Of Silver and A Guide For Finishers - A Hair Of Gold are two ‘best of’ compilations by Coil. They were initially released as two separate albums and intended to introduce the music of the legendary experimental electronic duo to Russia. They are now being released as a two CD set as an overview of the duo’s whole career. They’ve been unavailable for over 20 years, so this news should excite fans!

Cocteau Twins
Blue Bell Knoll

Released in 1988, ‘Blue Bell Knoll’ is the Cocteau Twins’ fifth studio album.  A beautiful record that showed the band’s continued maturity, it also included one of their most enduring songs, ‘Carolyn’s Fingers’. Now re-issued on heavyweight black vinyl and are being cut from brand-new HD 96/24 masters.

Genesis
Selling England By The Pound

Selling England By The Pound is the album that gave Genesis their first taste of real commercial success. The band's fifth long-player was originally released in 1973. It charted at No.3 and also contains their first top 30 hit, the strangely melodic I Know What You Like (In Your Wardrobe). Reissue 180g vinyl LP on Virgin/EMI.

Throbbing Gristle
Mission Of Dead Souls

Why does the name of this band still hurt my teeth?  This is the last live performance from Throbbing Gristle before their initial break up in the early 80's. The formats offered here have been unavailable for decades, so this is BIG. Mission Of Dead Souls is available on a limited edition white vinyl reissue LP and reissue CD, both released on Mute.

Bauhaus
Burning From The Inside

Reissue of 1983’s Burning From The Inside, the fourth and final album made by Bauhaus in their original incarnation before their split that same year. Illness meant less Peter Murphy and more from the rest of the band, with interesting results. Includes ‘She’s In Parties’. This reissue features freshly HD remastered audio, using the original master tapes as source.

Orchestra Baobab
Specialist in All Styles

Orchestra Baobab are an iconic Sengalese dance band who, in 2020, celebrate their 50th anniversary. To celebrate, World Circuit are reissuing the band’s 2002 album Specialist In All Styles. The album takes in afro and latin influences underpinned by a rhythm section that really cooks, the astonishing guitar playing of Barthélemy Attisso and the brilliant saxophonist Issa Cissokho. Ibrahim Ferrer (Buena Vista Social Club) and Youssou N’Dour makes guest appearances.

I Am Kloot
I Am Kloot

I am Kloot was in fact the second album by Mancunian miserablists I Am Kloot and once again showcased the songwriting prowess of John Bramwell. It is more streamlined that their earlier work but retains the dark heart always at the core of their best songs. Guy Garvey is a fan but please don't let that put you off. Re-issue on Music on Vinyl.

Chapterhouse
Blood Music

Chapterhouse managed to squeeze out two albums during their existence -  the second of which was 1993's Blood Music. It introduced more electronic sounds into their shoegaze palette and spawned hits that I can't remember in She's a Vision and We Are The Beautiful. This re-issue comes on red transparent vinyl on re-issue specialists Music On Vinyl.

Hospice

O.M.G. it's the 10th anniversary of The Antlers 'Hospice' so literally put everything that you are doing down and re-buy the album that Pitchfork gave a whopping 8.5 out of 10 to in 2008. Re-live its swooning and emotional mid-paced indie, glacial atmospheric synth work, heartfelt trumpets and random noise bursts. It's just like Arcade Fire were a shoegaze band.

Shocking Pinks
Dance The Dance Electric

'Dance The Dance Electric' by Shocking Pinks was an unusual record that ended up being released on the DFA label ten years ago. It combines that label’s punk-dance aesthetic with yet more styles - hints of reggae can be heard atop the nu-disco flares. Following years of being out of print, this here is a new reissue of 'Dance The Dance Electric'.

Manic Street Preachers
Generation Terrorists

While it didn’t quite sell the sixteen million copies that the band threatened it would, Manic Street Preachers’ 1992 LP ‘Generation Terrorists’ remains beloved by a generation of fans for its stirring indie-rock songcraft and punkish disposition. Hits like ‘Motorcycle Emptiness’ can still go toe-to-toe with any of the Britpop anthems it pushes up against in modern genre playlists.

Pink Floyd
The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn

Piper at the Gates of Dawn was the debut album by Pink Floyd and their only album to be recorded under the stewardship of founding member Syd Barrett. It was released in 1967 - Barrett was fired midway through the recording of its follow-up A Saucerful of Secrets. Piper at the Gates of Dawn is highly regarded as a British psychedelic classic and definitely their most wonderfully strange recording.

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
The Boatman's Call

Originally released in 1997, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds’ album The Boatman’s Call was a move toward the more gracefully melancholic from the gloomy Antipodean from the previous Murder Ballads, with his most personal album to date. A classic for anyone who doesn't own it yet, and Nick Cave’s most critically acclaimed work.

Angelo Badalamenti
Twin Peaks – Fire Walk With Me

Can’t go wrong with this deeply classic soundtrack work from Angelo Badalamenti can you? David Lynch’s Twin Peaks spin-off film Fire Walk With Me features variations on the series’ key themes, plus new music and appearances from Julee Cruise and Thought Gang, which is Badalamenti’s musical project with Lynch. Vinyl reissue from Warner Bros.

Kraftwerk
Tour de France

Tour De France was a 2003 album by Kraftwerk made to celebrate the centenary of the bicycle race of the same name. It contains a brand new version of their 1983 single of the same name as well as a host of other compositions. The track was initially made due to the bands increasing interest in cycling prompted by Ralf Hutter. The new version and accompanying album form part of the last 'new' material heard from the band to date.

New Order
Ceremony (Version 1)

This was the record that could have perhaps been the next Joy Division single. ceremony was originally recorded in March 1981 by the surviving Joy Division members with guitarist Bernard Sumner taking over on vocal duties from the late Ian Curtis. The track was eventually re-recorded with the new line up featuring Gillian Gilbert but this is the original and most Joy Division sounding version.

Augustus Pablo
Rising Sun

Rising Sun was the first Augustus Pablo record to be recorded in the digital age. The noted Jamaican producer was known for his 1970s dub and reggae cuts but began using more modern production techniques which took him to a whole new audience particularly in America. here, in his own words he 'mixed up the vibe a little' producing one of his most successful albums.

Stereolab
Peng!

Peng! Was the debut album by Stereolab. It was originally released in 1992. It featured all the hallmarks of their sound which was driven by rhythm guitar, vintage keyboards, a motorik beat and Laetitia Sadier’s part-Nico-part-ethereal vocals. They were influenced as much by the sunshine pop of The Free Design as the were the experimental rock of Can. This is good place to start with the ‘lab, as well as being a cracker, you can see how their sound progresses from here, album by album.

The Postal Service
Give Up

Owl City. Indietronica. Zach Braff's career. Yep, the Postal Service’s 2003 ‘Give Up’ sure does have a lot to answer for. That said, the album itself is not the problem - this is a case of poor imitation rather than dodgy source material. It seems strange to think now, but the blend of wide-eyed emo-pop and twee electronica/IDM beats that Ben Gibbard (Death Cab For Cutie) and Jimmy Tamborello (Dntel) presented on ‘Give Up’ caused rather a stir at the time. For better or worse, this was and remains a hugely influential LP. Contains ‘Such Great Heights’ and ‘We Will Become Silhouettes’, but you knew that already.

The Cribs
Mens Needs, Womens Needs, Whatever

We are ten years on from the release of The Cribs’ album Mens Needs, Womens Needs, Whatever: can you believe it? Wichita can, and that’s why they are reissuing it now, remedying the record’s out-of-print status at last. One of the finer albums to emerge from the indie explosion of the time, this slice of Cribs still sounds special today. LP reissue.

Peter Ulrich
Pathways and Dawns

Peter Ulrich is probably best known as the drummer in Dead Can Dance and for collaborating with This Mortal Coil, although he has a solo career which has seen him release five albums to date. Pathways and Dawns was the first of those and was originally released in 1999. It is made up from sessions recorded in 1990 and 1996-97. Hypnotic rhythms and poetic lyrics are augmented by guitars, arrangements and production from Dead Can Dance bandmate Brendan Perry.

John Prine
Crooked Piece of Time: The Atlantic & Asylum Albums (1971-1980)

Legendary folk singer John Prine sadly passed away in April 2020. He recorded 18 albums between 1971 and 2018. Crooked Piece of Time: The Atlantic & Asylum Albums (1971-1980) is a CD box set which includes his first seven albums. His songwriting is revered by many and a diverse range of artists have covered his songs from Bette Midler to Evan Dando, Paul Westerberg to John Denver and Johnny Cash to Joan Baez. On Rhino.

Galaxie 500
On Fire

On Fire was the second album from legendary US slowcore merchants Galaxie 500 and is an album that has often been cited as the band's definitive statement. For the uninitiated Galaxie 500 played a kind of slow moving dreamy sprawl influenced by the Velvet Underground and Jonathan Richman, slowing the tempo down to crawling pace and spawning a slew of imitators in the process.

The White Stripes
Lets Shake Hands

Back to where it all began. The Let’s Shake Hands 7” is the first thing ever released by a certain White Stripes, and it laid down the gauntlet in style. ‘Let’s Shake Hands’ and ‘Look Me Over Closely’ are raw garage-punk wheezes of the kind that would be all over their debut LP. The fact that the latter was originally performed by Marlene Dietrich introduces that element of Weimar surrealism that Jack and Meg were so good at in the early days. This here edition is a Third Man reissue.

Bluetech
Prima Materia

Alongside spanking new album 'Underwater Cities', Bluetech and his Behind The Sky imprint release a second vinyl and CD edition of his first album 'Prima Materia'. Initially put out back in 2003 on Waveform Records, this new version has been meticulously remastered on analogue hardware for increased clarity, fuller presence, depth and richer harmonics. Mars-1 has provided third eye-popping psychedelic artwork suggestive of the light show behind the eyelids that 'Prima Materia' can produce. Bluetech's reconfiguration of his ambient, dub and IDM influences still sounds fresh in 2020.

Yellow Swans
Going Places

'Going Places', the final LP release in the fertile career of experimental noise-rock duo Yellow Swans, is reissued to commemorate its tenth anniversary. Although Pete Swanson and Gabriel Saloman had produced countless underground records since the early Noughties, they arguably saved their most wide-ranging and vital effort until last, and one that still hangs over today’s experimental scene despite the group’s dissolution.

King Crimson
In The Court of The Crimson King (An Observation By King Crimson) [50th Anniversary Edition]

A 50th anniversary edition of one of rock music’s most iconic debut albums - not least for its iconic and unsettling artwork. King Crimson’s In The Court of The Crimson King was one of the first proper visions for progressive rock, and comes on a re-mastered 2xLP package featuring alternate takes of albums tracks on disc two, or a 3xCD + Blu-Ray set.

Global Communication
Pentamerous Metamorphosis

Released as Tom Middleton and Mark Pritchard’s second studio album as Global Communication, Pentamerous Metamorphosis was also a complete re-working of shoegaze band Chapterhouse’s second and final album Blood Music in 1993, and originally only available as a bonus CD with that release. Hailed as a masterwork of contemporary ambient music, it then came out as a stand-alone album in 1998, and is now available once more.

The Distillers
Coral Fang

Full of scathing attitude and razor-sharp hooks, Coral Fang was the major-label debut for Brody Dalle’s sometimes-forgotten band The Distillers in 2003, winning them a whole new fanbase and delivering them their first proper hits. Sadly, it all went downhill for the group afterwards as they split in 2006.

Sly & The Family Stone
There's A Riot Goin' On

A stone-cold classic brought back to vinyl LP by Music on Vinyl. What more can be said about Sly & The Family Stone’s groovy, incendiary and unique There’s a Riot Goin’ On? This is deep and inventive funk full of the tightest playing imaginable and soulful, politicised vocals. This album redefined 1970s soul and created a formula that has been copied for decades.

At least its not ludicrously limited, 2000 of you have the chance of owning or re-owning these selected tracks taken from their first three EP's. Tom Waits
The Heart Of Saturday Night

The second Tom Waits album is still in relatively earnest singer-songwriter territory, but with an extra injection of jazz into the mix. It’s the work of an artist still trying to define his identity, but coming out with plenty of impressive songs in the meantime. Diamonds On My Windshield wears the beatnik influence on its dashboard, while you can imagine Bruce Springsteen taking notes on the title track.

Gene
The Albums

Marking the 25th anniversary of their debut studio album, the career of overlooked British indie act Gene is documented in a new 8xLP box set covering their entire discography. The Albums includes 1995 debut Olympian, 1997’s Drawn To The Deep End, 1999’s Revelations and 2002’s swansong Libertine, along with 1996 odds-and-ends compilation To See The Lights, all on different coloured vinyls. Also includes extensive liner notes from journalist Keith Cameron, credited with discovering the band.

Disco Inferno
In Debt

A reissue of the debut album of Disco Inferno is something to be celebrated: Disco Inferno remain one of the most original and impressive post-rock bands to have ever been active. In Debt introduces their mixture of radical sampling processes and smart songcraft. These CD and 2LP reissues on Rocket Girl come with a bonus track, new artwork, and Neil Kulkarni sleevenotes.

Manuel Göttsching
E2-E4

E2-E4: a classic slab of minimal electronica from Ash Ra Tempel wizard Manuel Göttsching. Absurdly, for such a crucial work, the whole hour-long piece was improvised by Göttsching so he’d have something to listen to on his walkman during a plane journey the next day: the mind boggles. 35th anniversary LP reissue with embossed artwork, on MG.ART.

The Fall
Perverted By Language

Perverted By Language was the Fall's sixth album and the first to feature Brix Smith in any capacity. Mark E Smith's former wife was instrumental in the later smoothing out of their post-punk clank but at this stage it is still a challenging listen. There's plenty of classic the Fall moments here though from legendary longform opener Eat Y'self Fitter to the magnificently taut guitar entanglements of I Feel Voxish.

Jamie T
Panic Prevention

As 2006 turned into 2007 people were coming to terms with the fact that The Libertines weren’t getting back together any time soon, The Streets would never make another album as good as Original Pirate Material again and Lily Allen was now a thing. Enter Jamie T and his debut LP Panic Prevention, an LP that saw the cheeky Londoner serving a sound that kind of amalgamated all the above and threw in a dash of Billy Bragg's earthy people’s-poet pizzaz for good measure. Hits like ‘Sheila’ and ‘If You Got The Money’ ensured that Jamie Alexander Treays would be a fixture of festival lineups for many years to come.

Milton Wright
Spaced

Spaced by Milton Wright was released during the late ‘70s when disco was king. His brand of soul and funk was overlooked at the time. Since, it has become revered and, therefore, highly sought after with original copies changing hands for hundreds of pounds. It’s now being reissued on white vinyl by Alston - you’re chance to get your hands on a lost soul / funk classic for a reasonable price.

Paul Weller
Stanley Road

I don't know which Paul Weller album this is. It doesn't really matter. If you like him you'll be interested in getting it on vinyl. Whether you can afford the £32.99 asking price is another matter. The music industry screwed itself up in the past by charging £16 for CDs that cost pennies to make. Looks like they are off the same way with vinyl. Obviously this format is more expensive to produce so a higher retail price is understandable but this is really taking the piss especially when there are no extras and nothing deluxe.

Eels
Beautiful Freak

Very prolific and very sad, Mark "E" Everett has released literally tonnes of records at this point, but it all began with 'Beautiful Freak', a record that predated his infatuation with indie pop, twee theatrics and maudlin slowcore; this record has shades of grunge, trip-hop and alt rock, featuring the classic single "Novocaine For the Soul", as well as "Susan's House", which samples a Gladys Knight song and turns it into a spoken word nightmare. His creepiest, hardest to listen to and ultimately best record, Eels would never capture this disgusting sort of magic again.

Gong
You

Classic psych-minded prog from Daevid Allen’s Gong. You was released in 1974, nicely wrapping up the group’s Radio Gnome Invisible trilogy, and it is hence one of the most essential albums in the Gong catalogue. Also essential listening for any big Acid Mothers Temple fans, as they love to cover Master Builder, which appears here. Reissued on Charly.

Laurie Spiegel
The Expanding Universe

Megatron edition of Laurie Spiegel’s groundbreaking 1980 LP ‘The Expanding Universe’ here. All four of the original tracks are included here, remastered for extra shine, radiating vibes that would later be picked up on by the likes of Oneohtrix Point Never and Tim Hecker. On this new pressing ‘The Expanding Universe’ is expanded yet further by a whopping fifteen bonus tracks - many of which are previously unreleased.

Belle and Sebastian
Fold Your Hands Child, You Walk Like a Peasant

'Fold Your Hands Child, You Walk Like a Peasant' is the fourth record by twee/indie pop band Belle & Sebastian. It's notable for featuring lead vocals from artists other than Stuart Murdoch, something that was only occasionally incorporated on predecessor 'The Boy WIth The Arab Strap'. It brings in more orchestral elements, too, relying on a proper string section.

Queens Of The Stone Age
Rated R

A vinyl re-issue for Rated R, an album that’s still arguably the creative high-point for Josh Homme’s Queens Of The Stone Age. Originally released in 2000, the album was a sleek and streamlined behemoth teeming with creativity after the mixed bag of their self-titled debut two years before. Spawning timeless hits ‘Feel Good Hit of the Summer’ and ‘The Lost Art of Keeping a Secret’, Rated R is re-pressed with its original blue artwork, with a 12”x24” insert and international bonus track ‘Ode To Clarissa’.

Red House Painters
Down Colourful Hill

It was the best of times, way back when Mark Kozelek was not awful to his audience and offensive to journalists; back when there was a forlorn band called Red House Painters weaving devastating lyrics in and out of slowcore threnodies. Down Colorful Hill was the very first entry into the band's canon and sees Kozelek slowly wrangle with gorgeous guitar tones and talk about that first initial feeling that you're getting old. The band at their sparsest and sometimes their most uncompromisingly ugly.

The Fall
Your Future Our Clutter

'Your Future Our Clutter' is The Fall's twenty-seventh(!) studio album, and their first for indie imprint Domino. It's a fan-favourite, and is regularly considered as their best from the 2010s. Recorded in Yorkshire and Liverpool, it sees their trademark repetitive, garage rock influenced post-punk meet experimental and electronic flourishes. Definitely an unsung classic from the cult Salford group.

The Breeders
Safari EP

Someone at 4AD has decided that it’s probably about time they got round to reissuing some old Breeders records. It might have something to do with the fact that Kim Deal et al released their first LP in ten years earlier on in 2018. It’s definitely got something to do with Record Store Day’s Black Friday event. Anyway, 1992’s Safari EP is still good after all these years. Sounds like Breeders with a hint of Breeders.

Lightning Bolt
Hypermagic Mountain

"This totally rocks" said an unusually hyper Phil in his 2006 review of this re-issued album from Lightning Bolt. He's not wrong. Hypermagic Mountain saw the duo on top of their game splurging out a 57 minute primal pummelling of electric bass and drums. If your ears didn't bleed first time round then Thrill Jockey have re-issued on vinyl for your noise enjoyment.

Fela Kuti
Gentleman

The first time Gentleman has been made available on individual vinyl since its original release in 1973. The father of Afrobeat Fela Kuti pulls no punches with Gentleman, big band groove for days with serious and equally big messages. The title track being an opposition to the west, Fefe Naa Efe a tribute to Ghana, and Igbe showing Kuti breaking taboos again and again with his constant use of the word Sh*t in various languages.

Cocteau Twins
Victorialand

‘Lazy Calm’. ‘Fluffy Tufts’. ‘Little Spacey’. Yep, we’re in Cocteau Twins territory alright - specifically the territory of ‘Victorialand’, the dream-pop pioneers’ fourth LP which originally emerged in 1986. ‘Victorialand’ was made while Simon Raymonde was busy mucking about with This Mortal Coil, and the result is an album which retreats even further into the ether than previous Cocteau full-lengths. Some might even call it a milestone in ambient pop...

Amorphis
Tales From The Thousand Lakes

'Tales From A Thousand Lakes' is the critically acclaimed second album from Finnish death metal band Amorphis. It's a record which was originally released in 1994 and is based on 'Kalevala', an epic 19th century Finnish poem. The way that the album incorporated prog-rock and folk music into a core death metal sound took it into pastures new. Coloured vinyl LP on Relapse.

Sade
This Far

Sade are the long-running sophisti-pop band fronted by the singer of the same name who have existed in pretty much the same format since 1982. They have produced six sumptuously smooth albums in that time, all of which appear on 'This Far', the first-ever complete collection of Sade's work. As you can probably imagine, 'This Far' is a high-end reproduction - the original tapes of each LP have been remastered at half-speed for extra clarity, and the album sleeves have been meticulously re-produced. All in all, 'This Far' is a gorgeous set.

Oasis
(What's The Story) Morning Glory? (25th Anniversary Edition)

Oasis were very popular back in the ‘90s weren’t they? My word! '(What’s The Story) Morning Glory' was their second LP and was originally released in 1995, which by my calculations makes it twenty-five years old at the time of writing. How about a silver-coloured vinyl reissue, then? Just in case time has fuddled your memory, '(What’s The Story) Morning Glory' is the album that includes the hits 'Don’t Look Back In Anger', 'Wonderwall', 'Some Might Say' and 'Roll With It'.

Wilco
summerteeth (Deluxe Edition)

'summerteeth', the third LP by Americana big-shots Wilco, was originally released in 1999 and is now widely regarded as one of the jewels in the crown of Jeff Tweedy & the gang. Here we have it available as an expanded five-LP set or four-CD set, and both formats include demos, outtakes and rarities - a veritable feast for Wilcians (Little Wilcers? The Wilc Hive?) everywhere! The LP version of 'summerteeth' also showcases a Tower Records in-store performance whilst the CD version contains a previously-unreleased live performance that was recorded in Colorado in 1999.

Maggi Payne
Arctic Winds

American composer and recording engineer Maggi Payne’s 2010 studio album Arctic Winds gets a re-issue via the Aguirre label. Hailed at the time for the ingenuity of its production techniques, Payne's otherworldly music is uncannily transportive, completely immersing the listener in her chosen soundscapes.

Interpol
Antics

Interpol made one of the albums of the century with their debut Turn on the Bright Lights so following it up must have been daunting for the New York four piece but Antics is no slouch either. Sticking pretty much to the same yardstick (which they've kept pretty much to on subsequent albums) it expands their sound into a more widescreen stadium hinting areas whilst retaining the brittle atmospheres and guitar interplay that marked out their debut.

Mudhoney
Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge

Debut Superfuzz Bigmuff  was perhaps the Mudhoney album we all remember but its follow up Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge was no slouch. Again the band used a musical reference for its title and again the record was packed with high octane grunge and alternative rock. It was to be their last before signing to a major label and cemented the band as one of the original protagonists of the grunge scene.

Burial
Burial

When the debut Burial album popped onto radars over the world, divided opinion soon gave way to cult status. An unlikely pairing of screwed up garage beats, moody bass and morose ambience heralded an era of genuinely emotive but strange dance music, cementing the album as a contemporary electronic classic.

Jonny Greenwood
Bodysong

As well as being in enormous miseries Radiohead,  Jonny Greenwood (as well also as having the floppiest hair on the planet) has his own soundtrack biz. This is his debut soundtrack from 2003 and in it he fuses experimental music, jazz, electronic and classical music. It has now been re-issued in a gatefold style LP.

Wu-Tang Clan
Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)

Do you want me to introduce this record to you? Really? Because if you don’t yet know what happens when you Enter The Wu Tang, you should probably just buy this on sight. For existing Wu-Tang Clan fans, this is the classic debut reissued, pretty crucial for your collection.

Teenage Fanclub
Bandwagonesque

Bandwagonesque by Teenage Fanclub was originally released in 1991 - the same year as Nevermind, Loveless and Screamadelica, no less. It is the perfect blend of harmony-laden, melodic ‘60s and ‘70s pop, indie rock and distorted guitars. It is rightly regarded as a classic and any record collection is not complete without it.

The Streets
Original Pirate Material

The classic debut before he went a bit soft. This was genuinely thrilling back in 2002 and it's combination of UK garage/hip-hop and Mike Skinner's lyrical observations were a unique and fascinating combination. Now we have Sleaford Mods a lot of his work sounds a bit....meh... but this is the good one and still sounds fresh.

A Tribe Called Quest
Midnight Marauders

Hailing from Queens, New York, A Tribe Called Quest remain one of the most influential hip-hop groups. Midnight Marauders was the band’s third album, originally released in 1993 and followed on from another of their classics, Low End Theory. Features the singles Electric Relaxation and Oh My God.

Daniel Lanois
For The Beauty Of Wynona

'For the Beauty of Wynonna' is the second album by Canadian producer and musician Daniel Lanois who is mostly known for producing massive U2 albums such as 'The Unforgettable Fire' and 'The Joshua Tree'. This record was originally released in 1993, and it’s an album of soundscapes and meticulously-arranged songs. The vibe of 'For the Beauty of Wynonna' is unsurprisingly Bono-esque.

Sun Ra
The Antique Blacks

Unusually even for an out-there progressive jazz musician, Sun Ra came from Saturn which gave him a completely unique take on this round place we call Earth. The Antique Blacks was his 1974-era album which has been out of print since 1978. It's rather more sprightly than some of his more abstract work with free-form noise, poetry readings and sax solo-ing all competing for space. Truly an originator.

Zé Manel & 2M G-B
Tustumunhos Di Aonti...

When it was originally released back in 1982, the recording of Tustumunhos Di Aonti… was apocryphally said to be considered a national event for the people of Guinea-Bissau. Recorded by Super Mama Djombo member Zé Manel and his backing band 2M G-B, it was a personal and political account of what was happening around him and to his community in the aftermath of the country’s independence from Portugal, and it now gets a re-issue on New Dawn.

Chayell
It's Never Too Hot

A pair of Chayell tracks from 1987. This reissue comes out on Isle of Jura, a label based in Adelaide, Australia, through the music itself was made in Belgium during the peak New Beat period. It’s Never Too Hot seems to split the difference, with the tracks ‘Beach’ and ‘Tropic’ both suggesting some evocative tropical vibes, but with a heavy industrial drum palette.

Nun Attax / Five Go Down To The Sea? / Beethoven
Hiding From The Landlord

Finbarr Donnelly came from Cork and played in a number of bands from the late ‘70s until his tragic death in 1989. His first band were post-punk outfit Nun Attax who later changed their name to Five Go Down To The Sea? and adopted a more off-kilter indie sound. They released records through Glee Club, Abstract Sounds and Creation. Their penchant for chaos meant the band split before returning, briefly, under the name Beethoven. Hiding From The Landlord gathers Donnelly’s musical history in one place.

Depeche Mode
Violator

It would have been impossible to predict when watching them as children on Top of the Pops doing "New Life" that Depeche Mode would become enormous stadium fillers with success in that massive place we call the United States of America. 'Violator' is the one that sent them completely overground and contains forever classics like 'Personal Jesus' and the surely never to be surpassed pop brilliance of 'Enjoy the Silence'.

Sons of Kemet
Burn

Burn was the debut album from soon-to-be-massive and soon-to-be-Mercury nominated afro-jazz many piece Sons of Kemet. Burn itself was nominated for a Mobo award but the band only really started turning heads with their third album Your Queen Is A Reptile. Now is your chance to re-listen to where the fun all started. On lovely vinyl of course.

Boards of Canada
Hi Scores

We’re always here for Boards Of Canada, and Hi Scores is a release that really shows off why that is. As only the duo’s second release, this 1996 number dates from when people where only just waking up to the BOC sound, and yet it contains such infinite wonders as ‘Turquoise Hexagon Sun’ and the deeply melancholy ‘Everything You Do Is A Balloon’. 2014 reissue edition.

Jon Spencer Blues Explosion
Orange

A re-issue for Orange, the fourth studio album from garage/blues revivalists Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. Originally released in 1994, and fronted by the scintillating single ‘Bellbottoms’, which played such a prominent part in the movie Baby Driver recently, the album received plenty of acclaim for its brilliantly unhinged delivery.

Jan Jelinek
Loop-Finding-Jazz-Records

Released in 2001 Loop-Finding-Jazz-Records by Jan Jelinek has sat on so many people’s wish list since because it has not been repressed once. Well, major props to Faitiche for answering the call, not only as a double vinyl but with two bonus tracks taken from the Tendency EP. Micro sampling ambient techno at it’s very best.

Kennelmus
Folkstone Prism

Released in 1971, Folkstone Prism by Kennelmus has been as rare as hens’ teeth since going out of print in the mid-Nineties. Five tracks of psychedelic weirdness interspersed with backwards instrumentals, field recordings, cut-up garbled vox and fake radio ads, it now gets a new life with this vinyl re-issue, containing an eight-page booklet.

Thunderbolt
Love Is So Funny

Love is So Funny is an ultra-rare, highly sought after boogie-funk classic by Thunderbolt which was originally released at the beginning of the ‘80s. The man behind the song is Mr. Pete Warner who has worked with the likes of Eddie Kendricks, David Ruffin, Herbie Mann and Patrick Adams to name a few. 12” on Omaggio.

Abfahrt Hinwil
Links Berge Rechts Seen

The name looks like an anagram and maybe it is but what lies behind Abfahrt Hinwil is an important piece of music history from the early 2000s. Y'see Abfahrt Hinwil are the duo of Martin Haidinger and Chris Cunningham who also ran the Toytronic label which existed from the late '90s all the way to 2009. Their sound exemplifies what they were doing with the label which is bleep 'n' bass 'n' glitch electronica that is summed up pretty well by the term Toytronic. First time on vinyl for this one.
