You could get the super-duper 7LP re-issue or simply re-live the sounds of 1993 with this standard revamp of Liz Phair's classic work. A whip-smart out-of nowhere classic of lo-fi songcraft and lyrics which explored sex from the female point of view. Something that (believe it or not) was a rarity even then.

Made on a shoestring budget, with Phair and producer Brad Wood doing all of the instruments, Exile in Guyville does it all-- from full-on stompin' rock and roll to eerie piano-based dirges. What the album lacks in professional polish, it more than makes up for with Phair's unusual arrangements, bang-on ear for hooks and often surprisingly complex melodies. A must-listen for fans of singer-songwriters, rock and roll or women in music. Liz Phair's "Exile in Guyville" is simply one of the all time great rock albums.
