Got a pink vinyl 7" in now by White Williams that sounds a little like the juddering mororik future pop I want to be hearing. It's called 'New Violence' and reminds me a little of Colder, the out-of-step French chappie on Output from a few years back, sprayed with a healthy dose of Sparks, then imagine Metronomy remixing this otherworldly pop gem & plonking some well wonky Fleetwood Mac style guitars all over the monotone bass pulse & kraut-tastic drum rattle. The vocals are inquisitive & minimal & the whole thing is utterly cool & chugs along in such a blase breezy way it brings a smile to yr chops! I can even acknowledge their super groovy rendition of 'I Want Candy' by early 80's pead-watch stars Bow Wow Wow. Shame Malcolm McLaren didn't suffer the same fate as Jonathan King for his seedy escapades in those dark manipulative days! then again we'd have had no Double Dutch.....anyway, this is an interesting distorto DIY curiosity with some minimal new wave shades, a Suicide-esque beats & more cosmic wibbles & meandering guitar madness to actually take it up somewhere near the giddy heights of the original 80's barn stormer. An absolutely smashing disc on Double 6, ltd to 500 so be uber quick!
