The best of the Frightened Rabbit herd was The Midnight Organ Fight, a glum emo folk classic that made everyone sad about someone's break-up. These gorgeous, countrified songs are perfect for the winter, which we very much wish was over -- we shan't hold the band responsible, but here's a bunch of rocking songs for acoustic guitars about wanting your girlfriend back.

8/10 Jack Customer review, 11th July 2017
Break up albums are nothing new. We know this. In the same year that this album appeared we got a few indie albums in the same vein. Unlike "For Emma" or "Sea Change", this is not a straight somber depressing album. In fact at times, it appears to be quite the contrary. Instead of focusing on creating a sound that is saddening or upsetting, they create an anthemic often uplifting or even inspiring sound. Not only is this a breath of fresh air, it also, makes the album relatable, which is probably its greatest success.
