Second time around for frenetic Leeds post-punkers Forward Russia. 'Life Processes' is their "sophomore" (how I utterly detest that word.....) album and is the usual mix of spiky, processed guitar riffs, uber-dramatic vocals from an incredibly highly strung mind, tight rhythmic drumming, new wave bass pulses.....some dynamic tempo changes. you know the score. Bits sound a tad like Bloc party, other more impressive spots are stained with the memory of defunct Yank magicians Dismemberment Plan, others like some long forgotten early 80s outsiders that I just can't finger. Or just imagine At The Drive In crossed with the Associates for a rough idea of what i'm atempting to put into words here. Basically if you liked 'em in the first place, bought the last single, liked that, then this should be where yr cash goes cos they're one of the precious few bands 'round these parts not content to sound like some Kaiser Chiefs cast off ladrock abomination and that lady drummer is our very own Janet Weiss so they deserve all the kudos they can get!
