A couple of savvy re-issues of 2 old post punk comps next. Theoretical Girls was Glann Branca, Wharton Tiers, Margaret Dewys & Jeffrey Lohn, the man with the vision. This is the missing link between The Velvet Underground & Sonic Youth. Simple as that. 'Computer Dating' is the birth of No Wave, the missing link between tough art punk & white noise. Glenn Branca's scraping sheet metal guitar nihilism is showcased between some raw, lo-fi gutter rock classics that must've inspired almost all the great NY bands ever! I can hear Red Krayola, The Strokes & The Fall in these trashy, repetitive grooves. Hugely enjoyable and they get a bonus point for having a cheap shit organ spilling jarring one note chaos into the spiralling discordance. Just a very important document of a precious musical period! 'Theoretical Record 1978-1981' is on US indie Acute.
