Aww. Isabel at Sunset is such a hearty twee lil' name ain't it? 'Meet the Gang' is a full album from the most authentic Pavement rip off i've ever heard from Europe. Even down to the artwork, these Parma dwelling Italians just worship at the alter of Malkmus. The singer's vocals occasionally err more towards the gusto of Liam Gallagher & dicky shortarse from Stereophonics (not in a particularly bad way, mind) but the music is pretty ace in fact. Coming on strong like a more shaggy version of Crooked Rain in spirit & production, there's passion & spirit here. A very rich, warm & fuzzy sound kicks out from my speakers so i'm quite happy with this lot in fact. Also for fans of prime-time Grandaddy. And yes, even early Oasis. Put it this way, rather these than most manage to write fresh, anthemic tunes with a comforting nostalgic feel without being embarrassing. And that means a lot.
