8/10 Penrith Steve Customer review, 18th February 2015
The first thing that springs to mind when you put "Circular Sounds" on is The Beatles, 1967 onward. The opener "Everything Begins" has a similar pace to the Paul McCartney part of "A Day In The Life" and the chorus of "Mother Nature" flies dangerously close to that of "Mother Nature's Son" from "The White Album". The fab four are definitely a clear influence here, but there are all sorts of little bits here and there that make this firstly, influenced by a bunch of brilliant music and secondly, brilliant and original in it's own right. "The Birmingham Eccentric" is a great song with it's catchy refrain of "Are you gonna be hip" followed by "Are you giving me lip". "Put My Troubles To Sleep" is a good example of the Kelley Stoltz sound, a melodic song, quite sunny that lollops along in a nicely laid back way. "When You Forget" is another catchy nugget that just makes you feel better. I think it's his best work...may even be worth a 9....
