Pride was the first album Matthew Houck aka Phosphorescent recorded for the Dead Oceans imprint. He had been somewhat of a wandering minstrel prior to this but the album cemented his ability to make soundscapes that had something of the pile on the sounds feel of the two bears - Grizzly Bear and Panda Bear - yet have the ability to seep deep into your soul.

Probably not for everyone, but if you like alternative country, you will probably like this. A surprising amount of the music takes place in the background with subtle percussion and yelps adding an amazing depth to the sound. When I listen to it, I imagine I'm hiking in the Appalachians and I stumble across a ghost town where I can hear wonderful music coming from an abandoned church. When I walk in, there's this band of hillbillies dressed in overcoats and boots, jamming on beat-up instruments.
