It's incredibly frustrating that so many artists continue to release sub par work well into old age while Robert Wyatt has decided to retire. The only option is to go back and to listen to his older albums. The last of these to date (he says hopefully) is Comicopera  - a 2007 album featuring the likes of Brian Eno, Paul Weller and Phil Manzanera. It is of course superb and won that year's The Wire Album of the Year.

I've heard bits of Robert Wyatt material over the years but I'm no expert. I do know that he's somewhat of a legendary singer songwriter that was robbed of the Mercury music prize by some cheeky monkey. So here we have his latest opus 'Comic Opera'.What I get from his music is that he's at peace when he's creating it. It just comes straight from his heart and he's not afraid to push the boundaries of the conventional singer song writer format either. When you tune into his tracks they can be moving and you get a real sense of the human spirit. What can you say about this? It's simply music in its purest form. CD and 2LP with etching on Domino.
