10/10 Brian Gaylord Customer review,

Right. How did this frisky bunch of angular bastards pass me by? Clint sat on this one for years and never told me. Well at least there isn't just the B-52s who come from Mars. Pylons's debut 'Gyrate' is here embellished with extra trax but in such a way it perfectly fleshes out & complements the original 11 tracker . No tacky add ons here. This is funky, wired & fluid post punk from Athens, Georgia. A hip swaying, visionary trawl through the spacier end of no-wave, taking in the Slits, Gang of Four & the planet gazing mystery of the beehived heroes of my youth. Pylon are a little more minimal, possessed & serious though with a distinct ESG/Liquid Liquid feel to them. All the songs send shivers up my spine with their delicate yet frantic off-kilter rhythms, jerky stomping drums, nihilistic guitar licks & snaky flowing bass licking it's way round the intricate yet intense arrangements. The singer is a right hyper vixen who could give Ari-Up or Cindy Wilson a run for her money. The bloggers have been wetting thier pants for a re-issue recently & i hope that you'll all feel heartened that REM's Peter Buck felt 'depressed' after his pre stadia-shagging quartet attempted to cover a later song by this amazing band. It was called 'crazy' i think. You'd be crazy not to purchase this utterly fantastic piece of new wave history! DFA do the goods again!x Brian
