So we're all re-pressing 7's now? Melody Day was taken from Caribou's 2007 era album Andorra and showcases his swirly psychedelic approach to music making. An added bonus is that old chum Four Tet pops up with a remix on the B side and Adem (remember him?) appears on vocals. All very good we need this?

Manitoba... I mean Caribou is back on a new label. City Slang have snapped up his psych 60's pop feyness and here is the first fruit! A 7" called Melody Day featuring all the usual suspects (Four Tet remix.... Adem on vocals) limited to just 500 copies. I have to say I like this... It's a good bouncy 60's sounding pop tune.... until the fricking flute comes in. I'd shove it up his arse and ask him to try and play it then if he was here. It's the same problem I had with the Poly Spree.... widdly flutes are as bad as saxophones.... Great drum sounds, great production, great sounds all around... except that cocking flute. The Four Tet mix is unusual as it's beatless more acoustic affair with loads of vocals all over the shop. At least he's doing something different. Hopefully by the time his forthcoming album comes out he'll have lost his flute.
