10/10 Steve Customer review, 31st July 2014

When Liars released this as a follow up to their dance-punk debut album, critics and fans were not ready for the pummeling that "They Were Wrong" delivers.

However, because 2004 were simpler times where everyone couldn't stop talking about Franz Ferdinand (...embarrassing.) and while initial reaction was very mixed, time has revealed that this album is a masterpiece.

The album is perfect from start to finish, with the opener Broken Witch making me want to start an army and conquer entire nations. Other highlights include "There's Always Room on the Broom" which sounds like a synth being pushed to an inch of its life and the hypnotic drums and chants combo of "We Fenced Other Gardens with the Bones of our Own". This album doesn't sound like anything else. 10/10
