Extremely classic and crucial album here from Galaxie 500, the dream-pop slow-indie band with one of the most particular sounds around. 1990’s This Is Our Music is the last album they released before splitting up, and contains songs as special as ‘Fourth of July’ and their Yoko Ono cover ‘Listen, the Snow Is Falling’.

While the album still maintains that luscious mix of extended washes and reverb, both the sound and the lyrics are distantly moving in the direction of what Luna would soon be presenting. I must admit that it took me many listens to This Is Our Music before it truly sunk in as a piece of slow-moving dream-pop genius. Galaxie 500 create a lush epic where guitars both acoustic and electric swirl together in a gorgeous haze. Like all great records, This Is Our Music takes time to infiltrate one's consciousness as a piece of extraordinary artistry.
