Mice Parade: "S/T" (Fat cat)We (myself and Mr Phil) spent the first couple of weeks really warming to the promo of this, only to become increasingly disappointed. Are we becoming jaded? No, I think we were just expecting just a little more of an update on the classic Mice Parade sound: My Bloody Valentine/Shield noise-harmonics, up front drums/percussion and carefully sung and crafted vocals. Highlights are Ms Laetitia Sadier and the lass from Mum (Kristin Anna Valtysdottir) on vocals. "Sneaky Red", the opening track fulfils the upliftment and expanse I love about this group, particularly the splashing drums and chiming harmonics and quiet-loud-quiet dynamics. Don't get me wrong it's a strong album it's just a little derivative of their past efforts with not enough experimentation we've grown used to up until now... they could've expanded on an ace template. Look forward to a live show though.
