Ant here excited to announce that finally Dopplereffeket release the long awaited follow up to the breathtaking 'Linear Accelerator'. I've been a follower of Detroit native Gerald Donald's work for many years. He is never credited as producer on any of his records yet there's something distinct about the sound that could only be him. Wether it's Arpanet, Der Zyklus, Heinrich Mueller, Flexitone, Drexciya, Japanese Telecom, Glass Domain, Elecktroids etc his trademark futuristic and retro electronic sounds all appear in there many forms linking each project to the producer. So onto latest opus 'Calabi Yau Space'. As with all Donald productions there is always a theme / concept. This time round its the mind boggling string theory concept. This has all the futuristic dark scientific atmosphere of it's predecessor with moments of John Carpenter-esq suspense. If you're one of the oldskool Dopplereffekt fans yearning for more of the seminal Dataphysix electro then you'll be disappointed. However if you were down with Arpanet's 'Quantum Transposition' or Der Zyklus 'Biometry' then this is for you. It's like the soundtrack to all the molecules in the universe all moving through time and space. There are moments of astounding beauty on here, both haunting and melancholy. If you care about electronic music you need this in your life. The sound of science and the science of sound. CD & 2LP on Rephlex.
