Amazing Grace was Spiritualized’s 2003 album: the album in which Jason Pierce wholeheartedly embraced gospel music, but without sacrificing his raw, rough-edged garage-rock touch. Recorded with a large, semi-orchestral ensemble. This reissued edition is pressed to heavyweight 180g vinyl and released on the Sanctuary label.

6/10 Customer review, 11th July 2017

Amazing Grace finds Jason Pierce torn between the kitchen sink production of its predecessors and a leaner sound. Lyrically, many of the same themes as on the last two albums, namely heroin addiction, religious doubt and self-loathing return. While nothing on this album is truly bad, and indeed sometimes one can get caught up in Pierce's anguish, it is a mediocre effort in the Spiritualized discography. Pierce is simply repeating past triumphs with diminishing effect. The lyrics especially seem stale and unimaginative.
