8/10 Mingus Staff review, 03 May 2007Mon Mon; "Repetition and variation" ep on their self titled imprint sound like a metal band attempting to escape their indie foundations. This is evident in some of the histrionics and grungy riffs. Their jangly roots come more to fore on the "Telebhisean" though towards the end of this track and the fourth track the heaviness rears its head again.
10/10 Chris Harrison Customer review,
Repetition with variation is the work of a band who have got their sound very much together and no doubt through relentless gigging. Understated vocal anger mingles with glorious and melodic guitar riffs held together with tight, tight rhythm - the odd lurking-behind-the-riff power chord thrown in for good measure. On telebhisean we are treated to a rumble of bass before the understated sonic attack of two guitars and the singer letting rip. A cracking noise solo also tells us that this band can experiment freely and wrap it up in a tight melodic package. Strong, deliberate, beautiful at times and forceful at others, the whole recording demands attention.
