The second Fennesz Sakamoto collaboration 'Cendre' is out now on Touch. You probably know what to expect here. The Japanese piano master Ryuchi Sakamoto tinkles on the old ivories to produce ultra chilled bliss while Mr Fennesz pulls out his electronic boxes and field recordings. This reminds me of a Harold Budd and Brian Eno album I was listening to. The piano playing is at the forefront of the tracks and is kept intact unlike the Alva Noto one on Raster Noton. Fennesz's sounds create an atmosphere that compliments the piano perfectly. Did I ever tell you the one about the tiny piano and the twelve inch pianist?
