10/10 Electro Customer review, 28th July 2015
This album stands out as a classic gem, not only because of the cohesive hallucinatory experience but also because it´s truly a collection of great songs; I´ve found myself listening to parts of the album by themselves, like re-reading select chapters of a book, and it´s one of those you never grow tired of.
I feel the 2 LP release helps some of these dynamics, since the first 3 songs after the intro are really a whole unit in my mind, and also because you really need some sort of introspective moment to realize what just happened after "Miss June '75", probably the best song in their whole catalog (alhough the minute long "Love of my life" could rival that, and in much less time).
The way the album presents and then develops certain themes or motifs also shows what a clever song-designer Anton Newcombe is, never really letting you of the hook with the feeling of 'experience' the album projects: you could literally be anywhere you want while listening to this album, and, if this is not enough to transport you, probably nothing is.
10/10 Pete Customer review, 27th November 2014
Imagine the Rolling Stones travelling through time, listening to Screamadelica, stopping off at Dennis Wilson's pad on the way back to have a smoke and listen to 'Pacific Ocean Blue', then kidnapping George Harrison and remaking 'Magical Mystery Tour' but with more guitar and percussion and without any of the McCartney twee rubbish. It probably wouldn't sound like this, but then not a lot else does. Just buy it and discover a world of laid back loveliness.
10/10 Dan Customer review, 15th October 2014
The record that Sgt Peppers so desperately wanted to be. And what? Whilst it's no Revolver, it's still the best thing released in the 90's by a country mile (acknowledging the Saved By The Bell theme as a distant second). AND WHAT. Bloody well buy the thing already. Is this not 300 characters yet? BUY ITTTTTTTTT
10/10 kg Customer review,
the greatest 'neo-psychedelic' record of our time. combines the beautiful 'beatlesque' pop with the drug fueled drone feel that reminds me of the Spaceman3 . BUY IT!
