It's been a while since Rephlex put anything out by Aleksi Perala (Ovuca / Astrobotnia). 'Project V' is a showcase of how this artist produces electronic music of varying styles. From deep thoughtful pieces to more upbeat dancefloor tracks. The production is clean and there are some pleasant melodies. 'Huska' almost reminds me of a Red Planet record. Very Undergound Resistance sounding. While 'Spacetime' is like Jack Dangers and Brian Dougans having a big electo breaks jam. 'Underwater Carousel' meanwhile could have been lifted straight from the Richard D James LP on Warp. With its skewed take on child like melodic electronics. 'Dark Energy' does what it says on the tin. A 4/4 sci-fi tecnho cut. There's even some Bogdan and Squarepusher style tracks.
