Strange House by The Horrors

Now up comes the curtains and through the smoke come THE HORRORS with their debut album Strange House. Although its obviously an old image format of guys in black make up and big hair, there is something dead interesting about the dark dandies. The music is gothic punk and angst with Doors sounding keyboards and clipped guitar lines and the vocals are half Mark E Smith shouting and half pained/angry singing. (with the occasional narrative). Structurally the music doesn't offer anything mind glowingly new but they're been smart and stolen their riffs well and created power led intense music to make boys grind and girls swing. The drums are so intense its making my buttocks clench and the occasional eerie sounds all add to the ambience. Its all smoke and mirrors but shit they make the reflection look good! CD's limited and has got DVD stuff on it.
