DE MA VAERE BELGIERE (They Must be Belgians) provide us with an album of muddy, doomy new wave & anguished, yearning indie that screams torment circa 1980 like no other. The chord changes are symbolic of that breed of chap who's probably had sand kicked in his face by life too many times. Looming bass, chiming minor chords, echoy, down-in-the-mix drums. I can hear loads of Chameleons, bits of straggly Wire, US bands such as For Against and even early Fall in the beautiful, simple repetion of it all. This is brilliant music made by sad people for sad people & I like it tons. Pass us the kleenex love, I've gotta blow this tumor outta my nose hahaha.
