Miljard by Circle

Finnish experimenters Circle have dabbled in every possible form of heavy and avant-garde music. On Miljard they explore ambient and kosmische textures formed from improvisation and dense keyboard playing. But do not fear, the krautrock structures and dedication to free-form playing are still present. This is drone music for metalheads. Available on very limited triple vinyl LP.

With God knows how many albums Circle have it can be a bit of a nightmare knowing where to start. It's even harder to know how to classify them. So it's to Miljard where the biggest surprise comes off. There's no heavy guitars since it is for all intents and purposes an acoustic ambient album. Pianos meander while underneath the surface there's something rumbling in the mix. It's not quite defined but the effect is sometimes eerie but never short of breathtaking. And ultimately soothing as well.
