WORKING FOR A NUCLEAR FREE CITY. Nice moniker guys! How's about we dismantle the 90's indie dance rock scene - everything from The Stone Roses to Spiritualised & The Beta Band. Then distill the essence, cut some corners, snap a few unwanted bits off (but not all of 'em, natch) & condense the whole lot into some hip shaking, gyrating, baggy-tastic post rave Madchester album. I can even hear old Glasto stalwarts The Egg a lot in this pretty nifty album. Imagine if Kasabian were cool instead of cocksure & had Death in Vegas or David Homes as spiritual mentors rather than bloody Oasis or something then you'd understand how good at times this album sounds. It's future/retro (a phrase I find often sums things up succintly) with bits even drifting like Sigur Ros & the electronic parts sounding satisfyingly cutting edge. Not hugely concerned that other sections sound a bit late 90's, like incidental music for Channel 4 documentaries or the glory highlights on Match of the Day. A damn good, if rather familiar sounding record (well, we have played it about 10 times!) LP/CD on Melodic
