9/10 Brian Staff review, 14 November 2006
Last from me is possibly the best CD I've ever had in my hands from the Mediterranean. Greece in fact. Lovers of one story buildings, moussaka & Tindersticks (who pack out amphitheatres over there apparently), the Greek take on electronica has so far evaded me. Until now. We have a fantastic CD in by GARDENBOX who on this, their 3rd long player ('Last Resort') have devised a whirling vortex of moods & sound. For instance crunchy 'tronix, frantic guitars, hellbent hounds-of-death drum machine that sounds like 65 Days of Static on crack on the opener 'Has Been a Long Time'. This album is a most absorbing, diverse listen, taking in post rock, electronica & a kind of semi industrial hedonism that frequently cracks open into lush, panoramic dreamscapes & fascinating field recordings. It really is fucking good indeed & was heavily vetted for album of the week status. Largely instrumental, this in part will appeal to the shoegazer crew with it's occasional nods to MBV etc. Only two tracks have vocals, the best is 'Global Pessimism' with yearning honey'd vox from a girl called Marina over a condensed wall of achingly sad treated guitar & understated electronic beats comin' atcha like a cross between the girl from Prolapse fronting early Cocteaus with 65dos on beats production. A secret classic for the floppy fringe massive. There's something in the water round their house. Invest with utter confidence on this.

6/10 stefano Customer review,

One of the few times I do not completely agree with the review on the site. Not a bad album, some good ideas, but it did'nt move me deeply.
