Never heard a phrase as stupid as new rave. We have a comp CD in called 'DIGITAL PENETRATION ' & it's confusing the fudge out of my 33 year old ears with bits of fluff hanging out of them (& possibly a few potatoes growing inside) This is what was 2 years ago known as punk funk. Now that term actually coined this dancefloor friendly strain of indie beautifully (once known as "indie disco" which might've been invented by Paris Angels) We've been here B4 with the excellent Future Rock 'n' Roll comps from Sonic Mook Experiment. Bands with an appreciation for the hedonism to be had an a slippy dancefloor. Music with it's roots in rock but it's soul in disco, techno or electro. All good clean fun, this genre splicing can either lead to ancient abonimations like Lo Fidelity Allstars or Regular Fries responsible for many forgotten turds. I'm sure there's a few bargain bin wanabees here. The Neon Plastix actually sound like they're already well out of fashion with their sub "Bravery with piano house" toss but there's so much raucous fun to be had with this 20 track round up of the more savvy operators in underground pop. There's rare & exclusive trax 'n' mixes from These New Puritans, Supersystem, Shit Disco, The Presets, Revl9n, Cut Copy, Mother & the Addicts, Corey Dargel, Crystal Castles, Architecture in Helsinki, Envelopes, Letters & Colours, Bricolage, New Young Pony Club, Theoretical Girl, Klaxons, Dandi Wind, We are Wolves & Shychild. This bargainous comp comes heartily recommended.
