1 review » Brian and me have had many a heated word about the Long Blondes over the last year or so. Brian and me have had many a heated word about the Long Blondes over the last year or so. He thinks they're all edgey whilst keeping that pop sensibilty... whilst I think they sound just like Sleeper and encompass that britpop sound from the mid 90's. This new single on Rough Trade called Weekend Without Makeup proves me right and the chorus even has a faint whiff of Echobelly. Seriously. Mind you we sell about 10 squillion of every release by this band.... why the same folks don't buy Sleeper and Echobelly is a mystery to me... This is great catchy indie pop which does nothing for me whatsoever but if I liked this sort of thing I'd be throwing myself all over the place like a proper dick. On 2 x 7" and CD......
