8/10 Penrith Steve Customer review, 7th November 2014

The first song I heard by Lambchop was “The Man Who Loved Beer” from this very album. It is the most amazing song. It is poetic, melodic and emotionally rousing. After this I naturally assumed that they were the greatest band in the world. Although my initial impression maybe a little over the top, it is arguably their best song and “How I Quit Smoking” is arguably their best album. It is a fantastically laid back and unassumingly powerful record. Kurt Wagner’s distinctive low voice, phrasing and flourishes of emotive pedal steel are superb. “We Never Argue” and “Life’s Little Tragedy” are other stand-out tracks.
