Virgin Ubiquity Remixed by Roy Ayers

8/10 Michael 18th September 2014

Great set of remixes from the Virgin Ubiquity album. Kicking off with Kenny Dopes heavy beats version of Holiday, this is an epic, hypnotic groove. However for me there is better to come, Joey Negro ups the funk with his rework of 'Sugar' this us a real extended boogie monster. Mathew Herberts remix of 'A Touch Of Class' is a think of offbeat, electronic beauty. There is a real groove runing through the track, but its kind of chopped, squelchy and slighty woozy, but great. There is a bit of jazzy drum and bass with Marky's take on Mystic Voyage, dubbed out house from Basement Jaxx on their take on 'I Am Your Mind' as well as Osunlade and Aloe Blacc having a play.

Fans of Roy Ayers should lap this up, but anyone who digs a bit of funk, deep house, jazzy beats and off kilter future soul will dig this too.
