9/10 Pod Customer review, 18th July 2013
Souvlaki was a high point of shoegaze, Pygmailion took the sound several stages further at the time, this leap forward was too much for most fans at the time to apreciate, but like all great albums show how far ahead of the game slowdive were at that time the songs have beautiful minimalism and have great use of sonics used, with the pauses within these songs full of reverb, echo and a feeling of space, it feels like neil halstead is responsible for a vast majority of this release.
Fans May not Need to acquire the bonus cd of demo's as reports are that these are simply mp3's and of low quality, to my ears this seems to ring true, the vastness and open sound is missing on these, i'm a completist, i had to have the disk anyway…
This album truly has an atmosphere of its own.
