The interesting thing about Devendra Banhart was that he claimed that he hadn't heard any of the early Tyrannosaurus Rex recordings before embarking on his music career. It probably is a good job or he might have stopped right there. His fourth album dials down the squeaks and whinnying that made his early work so eccentric and reveals a folk musician with musical warmth and a lyrical ability to connect.

The music on the CD is pretty good. He's definitely cut off all the strange obtuse angles and mad squawks of his earlier records and so this is pretty straight down the middle folk stuff that sounds just like Tyrannosaurus Rex with added string sections here and there The guy obviously has a skip full of talent and this CD is definitely worth checking out. I'd heartily recommend.

I dig this so much...I dig almost every piece of Devendra's artwork . Here are some slow pieces like Lazy butterfly, Canela, Inaniel...and every one of these has a special atmosphere. I like that here is not many instruments, just guitar or piano and a voice - and that is really great for me.
