Record of the year for me so far is this scintillating effort from Alexander
Tucker called 'Old Fog' on ATP records. I was supposed to write about
this last week but the review went missing in cyberspace and got left off the
update. So here we are again. This record is really a revelation. It's an eerie
wander through carefully plucked folk guitar, banjo, zither and other found
stringed instruments. The vocals are absolutely marvellous - double
tracked and folky. This recalls lots of different outsider music such as Richard
Youngs, Six Organs of Admittance, Marie and the Atom, Sun City Girls, Jackie O
Motherfecker, Appendix Out. It's thoroughly listenable at all points, always
concise & never gets too bogged down in psychedelic explorations. A stunning
album for the upcoming winter nights. Please buy.
