7/10 Penrith Steve Customer review, 16th October 2014
Released in 2005, this is, I guess, a comeback album. Five years had passed since their previous album "Howdy" although there was a worthwhile collaboration with Jad Fair and a retrospective featuring 4 new songs, both released in 2003. It's not as good as their best albums, indie-rock classic "Bandwagonesque" or their career high point "Grand Prix" but it's a decent album. Produced by John McEntire of Tortoise fame, he takes a bit of the polish off that was present with the previous three albums and it suits them. Having McEntire at the helm helped in other ways too as tracks like stand out "Slow Fade", a blink-and-you'll-miss-it indie pop nugget, we're sadly lacking on "Howdy". "Cells" will please fans of "Mellow Doubt".
