8/10 Penrith Steve Customer review, 15th October 2014

“Bug” opens with arguably the greatest song of the 80s and most definitely the greatest slacker anthem of all time “Freak Scene”. If that isn’t enough to make you buy it, then there are a further eight tracks that should swing the balance in favour of a purchase.

Whilst not being quite as good, it carries on nicely from “You’re Living All Over Me”. “They Always Come”, “Budge” and “Yeah We Know” along with the indefatigably wonderful “Freak Scene” are the best tracks on offer here, whilst “Pond Song” Shows a slightly gentler side to J Mascis, one that he would explore further on his output for Warner Bros. “Don’t” ends the album is a screaming mess, perhaps show frustrations within the band that led to Lou Barlow being fired. This version also has the “Freak Scene” single b-side “Keep The Glove” as a bonus track.
