It's hard to recall sometimes given their recent, flailing output but Bloc Party were quite the incendiary band back in the day. Their debut Silent Alarm showcased their tight, energetic sound which married propulsive indie-rock to danceable rhythms. A large slab of credit must go to drummer Matt Tong whose rampant playing propelled the songs along at breakneck speed. They never quite hit these dizzy heights again so if you only buy one Bloc Party LP make it this one.

Oh I know. You're waiting on the Bloc Party album aren't you? Yes you bunch of dribbling fanatics, It's here. With a free 4 track live DVD. It's great as well. Edgy, dynamic headrush anthems. Taking indie into a new sky scraping stratosphere. Tight as hell playing from this uber talented 4 piece. Awesome drumming etc etc. It's everywhere though so I'm not gonna run through the tracks or owt. You've heard the great singles (bar the totally awful 'Little Thoughts', cleverly omitted from this strong collection!), so go on. The first really big album of the year is here. Indulge, indulge. There's normal vinyl too but the picture disc we got really stuffed on (only a couple came in & they went on pre order) so sorry!
