8/10 Penrith Steve Customer review, 29th June 2015
On Elliott Smith's debut album he seems to be still finding his own feet in terms of sound and songwriting. On later albums he most definitely sounds like Elliott Smith where his feelings were let out in his lyrics. In places on here, the music matches his distress, the best example being the foreboding "Last Call". In places his influences are more obvious than on later work. On "Condor Ave", for example, you can hear a bit of Simon & Garfunkel. Nevertheless, this is still very good stuff. "No Name #1" is probably the standout moment but the aforementioned "Condor Ave" is great too.
