9/10 Serj Customer review, 21st March 2014

The Knife have earned a name for themselves with this album, and whatever they would do, most of the audience will remember them as the guys who made “Deep Cuts”. What is it about this album that makes people cry loudly in ecstasy after hearing just first song “Heartbeats”? In “Deep Cuts” The Knife combined typical synthesizer dance music of 90s and experimental unique and own sound, which is particularly reflected in the vocal of Karin Dreijer Andersson. Almost on every track her voice sounds different. And every time it’s just mind-blowing. Tracks like Pass This On or Got 2 Let U reveal her amazing vocal abilities. With that The Knife combined familiar nostalgic music from the recent past, which as always colored in iridescent colors in our minds (this connected with color scheme of the cover). The Knife don’t only create great dance music, they conduct some research on musical culture of their native Sweden and dissecting it. This connected with title of the album and video for Pass This On. Most of the songs are incredibly vivid, catchy and multidimensional, and that is what makes people listen that again and again. This album will be remembered for a long time. And decades later there will be people who will go crazy from listening it.
