Glenn Jones is a maestro of the American Primitive style of guitar playing: that sweet sweet Fahey-derived sound we all love so much. This Is The Wind That Blows It Out is Glenn’s 2004 album, now receiving a vinyl release for the first time courtesy of Thrill Jockey. Rich and beautiful music. Oh and by the way, the inner sleeve artwork includes the notes and tunings for all the songs in case you want to have a go yourself.

Great to see this available again and on lovely vinyl from Thrill Jockey too. One of my favourite Glenn Jones LPs, this record includes a couple of long form efforts plus six shorter pieces that demonstrate the fine variety and subtlety of Mr Jones' rather excellent guitar work. With nods to the greats like John Fahey (Track 4 is titled 'Fahey's Car') and a contribution from the late great Jack Rose (the co-written 'Linden Avenue Stomp') plus a track named in his honour (the closing 'One Jack Rose (That I Mean)') this is one mighty fine record indeed. Some copies are pressed on red vinyl too but it's pot luck apparently, so why not take a chance. Smashing!
