9/10 Jack Customer review, 4th January 2015

Coming off what fans consider their weakest album (Aldhils Arboretum), Of Montreal would undergo a large change in not only sound but also their collaborative nature. Lead singer Kevin Barnes had always been head songwriter and lyricist, but with Satanic Panic in the Attic every aspect of the recording process was entirely his, from drumming to vocals. Recorded entirely in his home studio with the support of his new wife Nina, Kevin totally re-invented the band's writing process and of Montreal became more of a solo project. This bold new development of Kevin's would become one of the most advantageous results for of Montreal, garnering much more attention and positive reviews. Album highlights include the unexpected accapella chant of Lysergic Bliss and the driving bass and infectious synth of Rapture Rapes the Muses.
