Repress of Melt Banana’s fourth studio album. 11 tracks of completely nuts off the wall noise rock from the genre defining group. Grindcore speed, punk energy and almost pop-like entertainment value all the way throughout.. Interspersed with bizarre noise and glitchy scrapes. Never a straight line with these guys.

Teeny Shiny certainly has a more commercial sound than its predecessors, but seeing as it is Melt-Banana, it's still relatively uneasy listening throughout. The trademark lightning-paced songs, manic riffs and Yasuko Onuki cartoonish vocals are still here, but amongst the madness of it all are signs of melody development within. That's not to say it's a bad thing, with the album's frantic opener "Free The Bee" being held in high regard among fans, and "Charlie" showed a huge improvement in their songwriting. Overall, it's shorter than their other albums, but there aren't any weak songs that I can find here. If you're expecting more conventional music, this probably won't be for you, but if you need an introduction to a truly unique band such as Melt-Banana, then Teeny Shiny is probably the one to begin with - just be prepared for a non-stop, electronic noisy ride though!
