9/10 Brett Staff review, 05 December 2008Fuck me, I don't know where they're digging up all the bonus tracks for these Pavement reissues but there are at least a thousand on the one for Brighten the Corners so it's obviously an abundantly generous source. There's a whole other career in there. I'll limit this to a quickie since it should be common knowledge that Pavement are about the height of wonky, shambolic 90s indie (although the edges were smoothed off just a little by the time this was first released) so I'll just say that this lovingly packaged effort is easily the way to go if you're collection doesn't have it in some form already. Until they do some nice vinyl reissues at least.. Hint!
8/10 Penrith Steve Customer review, 17th October 2014
This is probably Pavement's least good album. Least good rather than worst because Pavement albums are all of a certain standard. Pavement were a brilliant band. "Stereo", "Shady Lane" and "Starlings Of The Slipstream" are on here and they are amongst Pavement's best songs. One notable improvement about this reissue is that two of their best b-sides "Westy Can Drum" and "Harness Your Hopes" have been included. The latter features the lyric "Show me a word that rhymes with pavement and I will kill your parents and roastthem on a spit", it never fails to make me smile.
