Arena Hostile by Frankie Sparo

A few tracks from Frankie Sparo’s debut LP My Red Scare get reworked for new EP Arena Hostile. Originally taped for Dutch radio, this record sees Sparo’s originals fleshed out by a backing band that includes members of A Silver Mt. Zion. With new musicians in tow the likes of ‘Here Comes The Future’ and ‘Diminish Me NYC’ turn into weird anti-songs reminiscent of Slint and The Magnetic Fields. There’s also a Rolling Stones cover to close out Arena Hostile.

Hot from Canada is the new Frankie Sparo CD single on Constellation. Very mournful depressing but yet beautiful music. How do they do that? Violins and that, you get the picture. We like this here. Arena Hostile it be called....
