The beginning times of what would become an enormous unstoppable rock behemoth. It's got all the good early hits on it like 'Trouble' and 'Yellow' and the deliciously spectral 'Don't Panic'. These soft rockers could certainly pen a haunting tune back then before it all got a bit stadium. Perfect for a late night weep into your cellphone.

7/10 Jack Customer review, 30th August 2016
Coldplay gets some crap in more serious circles possibly because of their sappiness and pandering to the mainstream, but at least on their debut album, they ain't bad. At times singer Chris Martin's falsetto can get annoying, but in general he fits the tone he's creating, and while the lyrics are never as deep or touching as he seems to want them to be, they get the job done without being too egregious. His piano playing can be a bit simple, but he can come up with simple tunes that are still effective and catchy, especially here on Parachutes.
