‘The Burning Red’ was the third album by US nu-metal band Machine Head. Originally released in 1999, the record marked a change in the band’s sound from trashy metal to a combo of melodic rapping, crooning, disco beats and funk-charged bass lines. It was a controversial move as far as fans were concerned, but one that brought critical acclaim - well, as much critical acclaim as a nu-metal band could reasonably expect in the late-90s - and commercial success.
